JP's M/O is to get his countries people employed and to contribute to life whilst giving them a sense of self worth and belonging.
I very much doubt his main target is to either win his money gambling (like he maybe had to before (or nick a longun in the Lanzarote Hudle returning £52k to the winner.
Broader scale and all that jazz.

Improved for the step up in trip according to the trainers rep.
Not an angle touted much in the press. Hence the price.
Hendo must have a warm glow about him tonight.

I think so. JP knows the game inside out eg being a bookie, and being an owner. JP also spreads his horses with many trainers here and in Ireland. JP supports the sport - immediate and major - eg trainers, stable staff, etc; JP is humble, and does not do self-interests and self-publicity.
JP buys good horses to race and not to multi-enter them in races but promote competition against his counterparts eg Ricci (Faugheen / Vautour / Annie Power / Lossiemouth) who's subservient to his (private) trainer Mr Mullins eg Fact To File.
JP is also humble and good for horseracing UK and Ireland.

Agree with much of that. Loved the way, at Cheltenham, Aintree, he had generations of his family there at the winning reception area and all the grand kids ( maybe a couple of great grand kids too ) there, clearly having loads of fun and learning how good and how much fun Racing can be. That alone can only be good for the future of Racing.

Assume JP is not tapping away on the machine using his account. But the machine almost invariably knows how well they are likely to run. So who gets to do the tapping? I doubt it's the yards and their associates.

Highly unlikely that he even has a BF A/C. He will be getting on when he wants to. With Liquidity so poor on here it has never been easier to manipulate Markets. As has already been stated,he has never been a friend to the punter and why would he

Apart from the very top ones, the whole MO is lining up for festivals and landing gambles at the egg and spoon level. It's a rhetorical question, but he must be happy shelling millions out to keep the rubbish ones in training only to land gambles when he isn't betting on them himself. So who is the beneficiary from the project (outside of the dozens of trainers he helps to keep going).

why keep the rubbish ones going though. surely he doesn't even know when they are all running, let alone watch them.
the hobby argument falls down when you consider nearly all of them will be lining up for a punt at some point.

More than just not trying involved in planning a coup. Jamaicaine had started at 40/1 on her last run before the recent 2 quick wins. She did manage 5th of 11. Her run prior to that was last of 9. Same trip, but different track Hereford and she wins easily then follows up just as easily with a 10lb weight rise. The SPs would not make you a fortune. Two years training fees to be recovered though so JP needs it to win another 6 to break even. No other big owner would put up with finishing nearly last for 2 years in the hope of sudden improvement to win a £3200 mares handicap.
