I agree with irons, look after him if 6 lengths down but still in with a chance of winning today...also, no guarantee of "popping" him over not resulting in a fall
Did right to ask him just unlucky it ended up being fatal.
The presenters on itv and the commentator couldn't give a ****. Just carried on like normal after and then the zoom in on the jockeys post race and they are all joking and laughing.
They are trying to present a programme not to wallow in grief
It is an unfortunate part of NH Racing and if it is too much to bear don't watch it

LEANO No one lies to see fatalaties, but as previous guy said if you cannot stand it DONT WATCH IT your contribution is meaningless
Nothing to do with going or jockey in either case. Wertpol landed on his head with bodyweight over the top. KDB took off way too early at the ditch but still tried to stand up, it appeared and his bodyweight seemed to be all on one leg at one point, which landed awkwardly on the ground due to hitting the fence first.
Jockeys laughing in the paddock is normal they would not have had any close connection to todays fatalities (the "its sad but part of racing" attitude has to prevail or nobody would do it). The lads and lasses who look after these horses are the ones who feel it the most, they would not have been laughing!
Jockeys get killed as well in NH Racing. They cannot afford the luxury of donning sackcloth and ashes
PESO also came to grief in the 12-55, cant say I heard a word said on ITV.
Three horses have died after sustaining injuries in separate incidents during Kempton Park's Lanzarote Hurdle card.
Grade One winning Kalif Du Berlais, who was part-owned by former Manchester United manger Sir Alex Ferguson, fell and unseated jockey Harry Cobden in the final stages of the four-runner Silviniaco Conti Chase.
The six-year-old sustained a broken shoulder and could not be treated by the veterinary team, with trainer Paul Nicholls describing the loss as "a big kick in the teeth" and a "sad day".
Also on Saturday, Wertpol suffered a fatal fall in the juvenile hurdle, while Peso pulled up with an injury in the Shaker Handicap Chase.
Both horses were attended to by the veterinary team but were unable to be saved.
A spokesperson for Kempton Park said: "All of us at Kempton Park care deeply about the welfare of all racehorses, as do the thousands of racing staff who provide them with world-class levels of care at home every day.
"Our heartfelt condolences are with the connections of all three horses."
The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) said, external it will analyse each incident in detail through its fatality review process.
"At this stage there does not appear to be any common factor that can be attributed to these incidents, with each of the injuries different in nature and sustained in unique circumstances," it added.
Briton Nicholls said Kalif Du Berlais had been "travelling beautifully" at Kempton and they had "a lot of faith" the horse could go far.
"He's won a Grade One and had a big future, there is no doubt about that, but we're not going to know how big, sadly," he said.
Harry Derham, who was riding Wertpol, wrote on X, external it had been "an utterly miserable day" and said the three-year-old "was a bright talent who was fresh and happy doing his work every day, often pla
ying around and expressing himself".
He added: "Racing can at times be a painful sport and today has been a tough day for a number of connections. A day to forget."
