Debateable, in that, their early writings were aimed at 14-16 year old girls with groupie inclinations towards older boys. 'Love Me Do' 'I Wanna Hold Your Hand' 'She Loves You' etc. didn't take much to write those, like so many others of the time, they knew their 3 minute market. They got more sophisticated as they got older.

Did it all in 7 years, and Pandora still banging on about it for following 50 years. The Stones still going strong Pandora not 7 year wonders but they were really good i admit.

Both fab bands....but dont ever forget that Jagger and Richards sat in a corner whilst Lennon and Mcartney penned 'I wanna be your man' for them in about 10 minutes, became the Stones first top 20 hit.

If you want to know how quickly the Beatles developed and became ahead of their time and miles ahead of the rest of the pack just listen to Tomorrow Never Knows on the Revolver album - then remember that it was made 60 years ago……

Chuck Berry didn’t think a lot of them. There was a summer they seemed to bring out instant No.1’s every month. I remember Bongo having his hair clipped by a fan in the U.S. on the airport tarmac. Nobody thought anything of it at the time. Fans got away with just about anything at that time. Then we had 8th Dec. 1980.

I'm a big Beatles fan but have to concede - did they ever do anything superior to Gimme Shelter and Sympathy For The Devil?
While the Stones were coming up with those humdingers, the Beatles were churning out Why Don't We Do It In The Road, Polythene Pam and She Came In Through The Bathroom Window
I think the Stones were the better group by the end of the '60s.

not a fan of theirs at all and there is a valid arguement that George Harrison was the most talented of the 4 as his contribution as well as solo material has stood the test of time better than others.

Aw. Fluck me. Comparing Rolling Stones songs to The Beatles is like comparing Salieri to Mozart.
Let it Be. Hey Jude. All You Need... Yesterday Lucy in the Sky.. Strawberry Fields. Penny Lane. Day in the Life. Something. Get Back. John and Yoko. Here Comes the Sun. Hello Goodbye. Little help from my friends. Hold Your hand Twist & Shout. Saw Her Standing There.
THe list goes on and on and on and......
Its the history of rock and roll boys. There isnt a Popular Music act anywhere that can compete. In the Ron Howard movie about them: '8 days a week', classical composer Howard Goodall is interviewed. He says The Beatles have about 200 songs of real quality. 'THats more than Schubert!'.
And Jagger is a Gooner. So he can do one.

The Kinks and Ray Davies wrote and made a lot of great music, Waterloo Sunset one of my all time favourites, as good as any of those Beatles ballads imo.

Yeah dont we know it. The point being that The Beatles wrote better songs than Schubert.
If you can sit through old Franz Schubert and his hundreds of German 'Lieder', then chapeau. Youre a better man than I.

There are places I'll remember All my life, though some have changed. Some forever, not for better; Some have gone and some remain.
All these places had their moments With lovers and friends I still can recall. Some are dead and some are living, In my life I've loved them all.
But of all these friends and lovers There is no one compares with you. And these mem'ries lose their meaning When I think of love as something new.
Tho' I know I'll never lose affection For people and things that went before, I know I'll often stop and think about them, In my life I love you more.

Came up with that list off the top of my head. As others have pointed out, so many songs. And brilliant ones at that. Apols for missing out on I Feel Fine. In My Life. Help.
I remember on a long drive to the Smoke one day I kept singing Beatles songs just to keep awake. Kept coming up with different ones hours after I had arrived.
