Primarily I'm not a backer. Much less a backer at prohibitive offerings. Joshua trading currently at 1.12 seems too good to be true. Without the 'fix' variable he'd be a 1.01 in my opinion. For perspective, I don't rate Joshua. Never have done. His frailties & shortcomings throughout his career have been there for all to see. He had the grace of God to be in an extremely lacking heavyweight era. That said he's fighting a novice who on every metric physically & ability wise is not near him. 12% ROI offering doesn't make sense to me. Opinions?

Hes on hols so I will answer instead R

Dont know. I am looking to have 3/4 of my bank on AJ (£21) but will wait until I have consulted my dear friend M who was a boxer himself

As with Moneyweather and McGregor this is a nonsense but I vaguely recall having a chunk (£27.99) on Money at a daft price, ie too big despite being well under 1/10, but I cannot be sure

The fight has only been agreed with the money involved because it will be to whatever narrative the promoters want. Thats not too difficult to understand is it? If this were a genuine fight the prize would be about 100$ as its a non contest! You'll be telling me soon that you believe WWF was real Laugh

For Netflix to make money from this then they need a lot of new subscribers. They’ve then got to hope that they stay subscribed for longer than a month.
This feels more like a gimmick on their behalf rather than a money maker. You’d need 1m new subscribers to get £5m.

Most households already have Netflix. It’s not like your standard PPV where every viewer at home has to pay to see the fight. 300m of us can watch it without paying an extra penny.

Many commentators saying the best result is that Paul doesn't get seriously hurt. I disagree as if he does it should put this silly influencer boxing tosh to bed for good - literally! There are hundreds of these people going round low rent boxing shows around the americas buying fights and kidding themselves into thinking they can box. One has def died and a few have been seriously injured so far i think but not high profile.....

I agree if consenting adults want to engage, that's up to them. Same discussion we had a little while back on here about jockeys who get injured. No one is forced to.

But, having said that about boxing, I think more pertinent is 4.6 for first round KO here, and the lumpy sums all seem to still be the layers for that to happen...tells a story about this one.

I will be watching this fight too. I won't be paying any extra, as I'm already a Netflix subscriber and it's free on Netflix.

But I am slightly interested to see how it plays out - will be amazed (and a bit poorer) to see Paul get seriously hit and KOd first round.

Maybe just me, IMO Paul done Fury, at worst a draw. Regarding this, unless a fix. as someone already said 1.01 Joshua.
Report ThePomp December 16, 2025 6:26 PM GMT
Yes and no Rico. At the time of writing this 13% ROI is "supreme value". Decided I'm not wagering a substantial amount of my bankroll on a pantomime. I agree with some on this thread that a portion of this fight is predetermined & therefore compromised. For example, I do think that it's more than likely they'll be no Joshua KO Paul 1st round for obvious reasons. And if I believe that to be true then what else within the fight also has no integrity. Two average light heavyweights is being kind. They're barely area level let alone British or European.

Joshua is free money. There's people incorrectly pricing in the **** possibility which is imo, zero. Joshua has a fight vs Fury I'm saudi in the pipeline which if beaten by Paul would cost him a small fortune. Also similar to Mayweather, Joshua has a reputation and enough money to turn down any offers of taking a knee. Just don't bother trying to second guess how it gets scripted, back him to win and collect the free money

Joshua must have agreed to do him no damage, where Joshua could win back public support and save boxing in the process is to go out there in round 1 and say to Paul, "you know when I promised not to hurt you, well, I lied" a bit like Arnie in Commando and immediately proceed to knock him into the middle of next week.
Report stu December 19, 2025 3:43 PM GMT
If anything is 'agreed' before this fight, no way we will ever know about it - that would have been firmly behind closed doors.

I would imagine, in very early talks that took place when fight is first discussed among the parties.

Pauls 'tactics' of running round the ring for 8 rounds was always going to be the case but he looked knackered after 3 rounds (and had hardly been hit) so he couldn't even be arsed to train hard enough to do that. Drifted out to 1.19 for small money before the off. Huge money matched up to 1.18 as all the late money was for Paul and the draw, plenty of his fanboys having a punt probably. There was much more liquidity for this fight than most proper big fights at this time of night.
