Very sad to read of the passing of Brian Mcmahon at 88 yo. A lovely man who made a name for himself with moderate horses winning sellers and low grade races but eventually found success at Ascot and Cheltenham from his homely stables in Hopwas nr Tamworth. Knew how to land a gamble whilst not destroying the SPs. I had shares in a couple of horses with him including my namesake, was on Bangers and Cash a couple of years ago selling his Subaru Wxi which he said got him to Haydock in about an hour and his V12 EType, will be fondly remembered and sadly missed.
RIP Bryan and thanks for some great memories.

Band on the run use to run in what as a great series the rothmans royal north south series the final would take place at the rowley mile can’t remember if it was Cambridgeshire day or champion stake day,the series was lost when cigarette advertising was banned.

Band on the run use ended his career by winning at Doncaster aged 11

Light blue striped sleeves couldn’t be 100% Penzance if it was dark blue or black if I had to go one way it would be dark blue.
