Powerful, drying winds prevalent.  How can they do anything else?

Exactly 4cm of rain on Saturday and the CoC is watering at a reading of 4.5. Should be a criminal offence.

GoingStick Reading     Going Description (UK/Europe)
0.0 – 4.0    Heavy, very soft, and waterlogged
4.1 – 6.0    Soft, with noticeable give in the surface
5.0 – 6.9    Good to Soft
7.0 – 8.9    Good
8.1 – 10.0    Good going, ideal for fast racing
9.0 – 10.9    Good to Firm

Watering at a going stick less than 7 should not be allowed by the authorities. Even then it is debatable, to water at 4.5 needs an enquiry imo.

So if the ground was 7.0 on Saturday how many runners do you think the Chases would have this weekend. Proper Jump horses need proper soft ground

i might be wrong, be the selective watering mentioned was on monday, aside from that i don't think they should be touching winter ground unless the conditions are extreme / dangerous
