In a 100% book, 12.5% of 1/7 shots are expected to lose. It's quite amusing really that when it happens, people act as if the sky has just fallen in.

There's little long term value in participating at those odds, unless you are in possession of knowledge that the market doesn't have. As you can't really afford to miss, or else you need an awful lot of winners to edge in front. Not worth it. Even then, there is still implied risk. In some markets I can bet at 1/7, safe in the knowledge that the true odds are more like 1/999 (pretty much not measurable in reality).

In some markets I can bet at 1/7, safe in the knowledge that the true odds are more like 1/999 (pretty much not measurable in reality). remind me when the next wun comes along..tar. |

I think I was betting Labour maj in the last GE around that price, yes the true chance of losing was not measurable. Though in that case the issue was deposit limits, not getting on!
