It all depends if the layers lay only one hoss in a race, or most of them. If the latter, then it is swings and roundabouts: red on the winner but green on all the others they've laid in the same race.

This is, after all, traditionally how the game is played.

It is not the same playfield on here however you play and you know it.  I've held a bookies permit in the past btw.

winner was 7/4 into 5/4. i layed at 6/4. also layed two others in the race. 6/1 - 9/2 (5/1 for me) and 7/1 - 5/1 (6/1) so half a point gained, ending another successful day.

i do believe the winner was a good deal bigger earlier in the day though, so definitely a "gamble landed"

14 lays today so far. paid out twice. 7/2 and 6/4. cant beat the maths !

tapley 5/2 hammered into 13/8, finishes a close up 4th

So in the newc race  if you laid each to say £100  and  either of the other two won it would have been £300 or £400 loss ?

top price i lay is 6/1. £40 stakes at the moment. max loss on a race is £240. it does happen, but my bank can take a fair few of those. most of the winners are under 3/1.

interesting you had a short price fav as a winner rather than a break even or loss.  But Keatley horses I am careful with maybe you too.

i dont do form, trainers or jockeys. its all a numbers game to me. how accurate is the market at the off ? how accurate is the market a few mins before the off. and yet horses can be 30-40% different in price between the 2 time points.

scores on the doors.... 28 lays, 4 winners, 6/4, 7/2, 3/1 and 9/2 (ouch!) +11.5 x £40 = ? a very good day! Better luck tomorrow backers, maybe you'll pull a bit back ?

Well done TTT. Your system isn't a million miles away from that used by poster Happysandwich some time ago which he also said was profitable I think he layaing at less than 6/1 if they had won their last race or someting along those lines.

I think Happysandwich system was to lay any runner in a race whose form figures going into it were 21, providing it was the only such runner in the race.

think you're not quite getting where Tiger is coming from guys.  His only thinking is price is everything.

Thanks Bettysboy but although I understand the difference, they share 2 key similarities:

1. They both lay at the top end of the market (up to 6/1)

2. They both work on circumstances that generally rely means that "selections" are overbet. HS on latest form figures and TTT on the lemming factor.

yes can be a good policy.  I suppose you will often lay ones that many think are ew savers but ok as long as they don't win

I always say that's the kind of result that keep bookies in rolls royce's. Strongly backed fav finishes  2nd  not beaten by fancied opponents but by a likely skinner.

yeah just the same. Sometimes what layers have running for them is not horses that have run a lot with placed form...but have run very little and shown nowt.

I didnt play yesterday. the last winner would have cost me,but i would have made money on the other races that would have covered that pay out.

was a good day for IR price movements ( predictable ) so for someone like me that also takes account of form a winning day.  But certainly guys like yourself going almost 100% on price not a bad policy.  Somwe of the best bookies did nothing else.

i have no workload, other than the actual placing of the bets.

great keeps it simple. Don't think I could make much myself without a bit of trading which obviously needs knowledge. But I do try to keep my own opinions on the light side. Let the punters overbet.

thought the exeter fav was too short  but traded for a win on jak hoola instead.  beat by one the bookies dream of two pulled ups form

i layed the fav  and jak hoola. 2 for one ! 9 lays so far today , 1 winner 11/4. Swerved 5 FAVS, 4 won. Its like knowing the results in advance some days.

That's the prob with laying favs blind too many win. Got to do what you do or trade
