No some I didn’t even have any interest in. Making notes
Seen jockeys looking round when the gates opened
Seen a race develop and a jockey not notice for 2F that there was never going to be a gap!! Jockeys producing their horse at fences on an uneven stride. Don’t get me started on some of their hands, u might as well strap a wardrobe to their back. Some Sat motionless while the race developed right under their nose! The lack of judging pace jeeez!! Most races look like amateur contests!
But overall general group is poor as there is many below average that allows someone like Luke morris look an accomplished jockey and his one of the worse I’ve seen over 30 years, he makes Simon Pearce look good ffs!

The standard has never been higher.

When is the last time you heard a commentator say " Looks loke he is calling a cab" at a fence? Last time I did I was at Fakenham and Mick Fitz did exactly that at the second last fence.
Todays jockeys are miles ahead in terms of fitness and awareness, maybe you are just seeing more close up whilst losing Tony?

True enough. In just the same way that the rose-tinted-spectacle view of the commentating prowess of O'Sullevan is a similar myth.
Not sure which we are talking about, flat or jumps. And while jockeys do make a difference, it is the training that has changed. I can remember when chasers needed 3 runs to get rid of their large bellies. Now most of them run to their best rating first time out.
Harry Cobden gave one a very good ride yesterday probably shouldn’t praise a jockey on this forum.
Off the top of my head, so I reserve to change my mind in the unlikely event I give the matter any serious thought, we have seen a decline at the very top end but an improvement at the bottom end, thus giving a narrower range of abilities than before. Perhaps in Ireland you still see more out-and-out journeymen.
This is probably due to greater professionalism (not so much booze and ****) and better training with the apprentice schools and not just "doing your two".

well everyone has an excuse,supposed countries best with 7LB in hand one very other jock,just rode a Saturday horse/race a 10lb claimer would be embarrassed to ride
