Absolutely crazy to see. Salver in the first at Sandown was approx 1/3 on here....1st place is £7.8k, 2nd place is approx £3.6k....be interesting to see the reason for the late withdrawal.

No national hunt Monday Tuesday unless bank holiday one meeting a day 2 on a Saturday would be a start to getting the great sport of it’s knees.

I mean even if it goes out and gets beaten into 2nd, that is surely 2-3 months worth of fees covered. I will await to see why it was pulled but if it's ground i'll be amazed.

There is no way the ground at Sandown could possibly good to firm in places.

in the age of mobiles, I would be staggered if Salver's connections don't pocket a few quid from the race.

Not many would want to pay that card.

When the rain comes the good ground horses will be put away.

Fewer fixtures the only answer.

If it was 28 degress and sunny and the ground was something you could play tennis on I would understand it, but there is no way that ground is any form of an extreme. The horse was 1/3 and probably would have gagged up in little less than a canter or piece or work. Maybe these owners don't need or want to near £8k for what would have been a gentle trot around. Astounds me to be honest.

its simple to stop this think.

don't let horses run in handicap chases off a hurdle mark until say 2 novice/maiden chases.

Its a loophole all the top stables use more regularly

Not seen ged on here for a while but if he’s around I’m sure he could dig up the record for walk overs in such a short space of time.

On a positive note Carlisle has managed to put on yet another good card.

Just the two meetings today-another positive.

No all weather very welcome too.

Good morning barstool

Whilst like many I think it’s long overdue we have less racing especially national hunt however I don’t mind an aw meeting each day I only bother with 3 tracks just ignore the other ones when there on.

Good idea.  There is too much racing as it is.

Morning jimnast,

Quite agree, would just prefer grass only in the summer months though.

Hope we see a nice novice hurdler at Carlisle.

Every chance we will it’s good to see a northern track getting so much good racing as Wetherby and haydock are unrecognisable from years gone by.

Looks like a real Supreme horse in the first at Carlisle....it's last run was visually gorgeous. If He jumps and wins well the 16's could look quite nice come March

7 horses have run since and only on placed, the 3rd looked poor prior to the race and done nothing for the form. Did it thrash a few trees ?

Won well enough, but couldn't even think about the race for another 6 weeks or so. 7/1 is a joke with SKYBET

Jimnast, in the absence of Ged, to whom I would always defer, and simply relying on the RP, there have not been 4 walkovers in a calendar year since 2003.

Thanks Donegal and that’s in a calendar year well that does show what a mess national hunt racing is in especially the novice chase division.the days of the 3 great 2 milers to win the arkle moscow flyer, azertyuiop and well chief the arkle field was 12,11 and 16 we can be almost certain now there won’t be enough runners in this seasons arkle to make it a first 3 race.

Including another walkover today at Kempton, here are the stats for novice/beginners chases ran since October:

14 races.
38 runners.
2.7 runners per race.

8 of the 14 have either been walkovers or 2-runner races.

The ground has been a factor, but this is extremely concerning.
By:
jimnast
When: 11 Nov 25 07:24
2.7 per race totally unacceptable once the bha have finished project premier racedays they can concentrate on getting these novice/beginners chase sorted out.
