Report howard November 6, 2025 3:09 PM GMT

5/1 howey? cop the lot?
Report howard November 6, 2025 3:22 PM GMT
did u ? where's photo value boy cider ?  You know what it's like sometimes you don't spot a stewards but as it turns out it was too close to call but I would have gone with the winner if I had to.
Report howard November 6, 2025 3:29 PM GMT
I think you may agree with this but I tend to think if there's a rank outsider that may have won you sometimes get better odds about it in a photo
Report Rico-Dangleflaps November 6, 2025 3:41 PM GMT
i never try to guess live cos too easy make wrong calls..as we nah the newc angle is notoriously trick to call but i never crash in anymore unless im 100% sure..prob was here one was hd up other hd down and the angle is tricky..i favoured far side but after seeing the super slo mo thought was close.
Report jamee1 November 6, 2025 3:47 PM GMT
Looked like far side all day in the slo-mo to me. Surprised
Report wondersobright November 6, 2025 3:59 PM GMT
newky angle seems to change from meeting to meeting
Report wondersobright November 6, 2025 3:59 PM GMT
favoured far side originally
Report swiftynifty November 6, 2025 6:48 PM GMT
The calculation is near side clear 1/2 head winner on the still - newcastle 1/2 head favour for far side = pixel in it either way = 9-2 in the photo was big for the winner.

No I didn't, but we know for next time.

That is,until it changes next time, swifty
Report swiftynifty November 6, 2025 7:30 PM GMT
yep! and some days you get the opposite-side slo-mo, I wonder where that was hidden today? Boot-fillers behind the scenes?
Report wondersobright November 6, 2025 7:44 PM GMT
v difficult to know uti

for example 9th oct camera almost dead in line
later meetings in oct a little past the line arguably even subtle differences eg 21st & 27th oct
then today its back to a little before the line
Report wondersobright November 6, 2025 7:46 PM GMT
you would think it would be 1 position for the main camera but here it seems to be numerous possible positions makes tight photo v tricky imo
Report uptheirons November 6, 2025 7:57 PM GMT
Newcastle has always been a rancid cesspit which I am happy to leave alone

the camera rico not the mirrors
Report Rico-Dangleflaps November 6, 2025 9:40 PM GMT
im referring to the camera..mirrors hardly gona be 20ft off the ground.
Report kingofthebop November 7, 2025 7:46 AM GMT
the red line is in the wrong place, it must be somewhere in the gap in the rails on the far side, the post you have joined it too would obscure the photo if they raced down the inside rail, thats why I bet five to two on the loser.
Report wondersobright November 7, 2025 12:51 PM GMT
9th oct, 21st oct & 6th nov
watch the replays from newky on these days

3 completely different camera positions
Report Rico-Dangleflaps November 7, 2025 1:26 PM GMT
how can the camera be different..its in the box 20ft off the ground sticking through the window.
Report Rico-Dangleflaps November 7, 2025 1:27 PM GMT
kingofthebop 07 Nov 25 07:46
the red line is in the wrong place

imo theres nowhere else to put the red line to make this side the winner.

ahh you mean the ATR camera...makes no difference to the official print camera.
Report wondersobright November 7, 2025 1:43 PM GMT
yes TV camera

that's what we have to go off & form opinion re prices etc
Report wondersobright November 7, 2025 1:44 PM GMT
and its been changing from meeting to meeting lately which has made tight photos there tricky to call
that's my point
Report formoftheace November 7, 2025 1:59 PM GMT
Newcastle (racecourse ) is the pits imo.
Report Rico-Dangleflaps November 7, 2025 2:52 PM GMT
cant bet from atr camera..need the slo mo.
Report kingofthebop November 7, 2025 3:40 PM GMT
the support post for the mirror on the jump course has been left there since the jump meeting last Thursday, the gap in the rails on the far inside of the jump course gives you the angle, thats why I backed the loser in the photo, I agree your line must be correct for this side to have won, but there should be no obstuction between camera and mirror, which that post is.
Report kingofthebop November 7, 2025 3:54 PM GMT
if you draw a red line through the same two posts on your latest picture, then extend it to the brick building housing the photo finish camera, the line will miss the building by about 6 inches to the right
Report uptheirons November 7, 2025 3:58 PM GMT
You are certainly welcome to my share there, kingbopLaugh
Report kingofthebop November 7, 2025 4:25 PM GMT
to confuse me even more, if you look at the finish of the 3.38 last Thursday, on the chase course, the post and mirror are in the middle of the gap, about a foot to the left of were it is yesterday and today
Report Rico-Dangleflaps November 7, 2025 4:40 PM GMT
gaps in rails are just a guide, same as the lollipop..people think its the line.
Report kingofthebop November 7, 2025 4:47 PM GMT
the actual line must be somewhere in the gap, if the horse is tight to the rail and its nose is bobbing to the same height as the rail how can it be photographed?
Report kingofthebop November 7, 2025 4:48 PM GMT
the lollipop is always after the line about 2-3 feet
Report Rico-Dangleflaps November 7, 2025 5:01 PM GMT
i know..just sed that Wink
