Linda Perret also, gave him plenty rides,

It's really hard to take in, when it's someone so young

This is so, so sad. Is there something unsavoury in horseracing in particular the domain of the jockeys? Tommy Jakes is not the 1st this year either.

RIP young man. I hope you're more at ease in your new world.

I don't know about anybody else but I was actually at Nottingham for his final race.As I hobbled from the paddock to the bookies,if I was told one of us would die today my money wouldn't have been on the kid.
Funny thing life.

Young Mr Fallon rightly so in my opinion very upset that poor Tommy's intended mounts ran tonight with replacement Jockeys along with no acknowledgement to the tragic circumstances that had unfolded it must have been an extremely difficult meeting for them poor young and older lads tonight
Report Rico-Dangleflaps October 30, 2025 11:02 PM GMT
was an ackwowledgement on course before racing began.
Report GEORGE.B October 30, 2025 11:18 PM GMT
Not sure what to make of that post from Fallon, is he pointing the finger at the trainer / jockey of the two horses, or is he saying in a roundabout way that tonight's two cards should have been called off as a mark of respect?

19 years old, just way too young
Report Ramruma October 31, 2025 5:32 AM GMT
Fallon has a point but undermines it by not checking how to spell Tommie Jakes.
Report GEORGE.B October 31, 2025 10:31 AM GMT
I don't know if Tommie had weight issues or not, but in the past fortnight, of his five rides, none of the first four carried less than 9-6 and three of them were in apprentice handicaps where he didn't have to use his claim, but then on Wednesday he rode at 8-11, so a fairly marked difference in what he'd been riding at.
Report wondersobright October 31, 2025 11:41 AM GMT
not many spare rides going now the flat meetings are drying up
Report wondersobright October 31, 2025 11:42 AM GMT
I'm sure they have their reasons but I would concur that horse shouldn't have ran last night
Report aberdonia October 31, 2025 12:12 PM GMT
From what Cunningham just said on Racing TV, the poor young lad committed suicide (speculation I know), but it seems that's what happened....And I agree with Cunningham, the young do have it much harder in life than the likes of I did....
Report Cider October 31, 2025 12:29 PM GMT
Nobody knows what was behind it though, that's the futile speculation. Even from Cunningham, as it might have nothing to do with his job.
Report formoftheace October 31, 2025 12:35 PM GMT
Well said Cider…..
Report aberdonia October 31, 2025 12:40 PM GMT
Oh, I agree Cider.....I don't know if he has social media, but there are some utter cnts on there, ready to give young lads learning their trade dogs abuse.
Report Cider October 31, 2025 12:47 PM GMT
I've never used it myself, outside of unavoidable scenarios. However nobody knows if had anything to do with this incident either. Definitely not having a pop, it's inevitable that people think why would that happen to a 19yo that on the surface has everything ahead of them. But nobody knows, possibly even some of those that were closest to him, why. It is a devastating thing to have happened, no doubt.
Report wondersobright October 31, 2025 12:49 PM GMT
could be for any number of reasons

like as already been said its best not to speculate
Report LoyalHoncho October 31, 2025 12:52 PM GMT
I fully agree. It is imagining the anguish he has endured which is so difficult.  Poor kid, poor family who will be riddled with grief, regret, maybe guilt that they never saw the problem.  He’ll on earth for them.

Let the Coroner do his/her job…

Keep a lid on it otherwise…..
Report howard October 31, 2025 1:02 PM GMT
Not commentating on this case but isn't it the case that 3 or 4 times more young men commit suicide than young women ?
Report ihal essex October 31, 2025 3:20 PM GMT
Truly devastating news, absolutely heartbreaking! Food for thought for one or two wild pockettalkers on this forum to hooefully moderate their rage!
Report DrGordons October 31, 2025 4:36 PM GMT
There's gossip about him receiving unwanted attention at one of the stables he rode out for. Maybe wide of the mark but when you remember what happened to young football trainees some time ago there could be something in it.
