It doesn't seem two minutes since he burst onto the scene by kicking off his career with a flurry of winners at Newcastle.

This is so, so sad. Is there something unsavoury in horseracing in particular the domain of the jockeys? Tommy Jakes is not the 1st this year either.

I don't know about anybody else but I was actually at Nottingham for his final race.As I hobbled from the paddock to the bookies,if I was told one of us would die today my money wouldn't have been on the kid.

was an ackwowledgement on course before racing began.
Not sure what to make of that post from Fallon, is he pointing the finger at the trainer / jockey of the two horses, or is he saying in a roundabout way that tonight's two cards should have been called off as a mark of respect?
Fallon has a point but undermines it by not checking how to spell Tommie Jakes.
I don't know if Tommie had weight issues or not, but in the past fortnight, of his five rides, none of the first four carried less than 9-6 and three of them were in apprentice handicaps where he didn't have to use his claim, but then on Wednesday he rode at 8-11, so a fairly marked difference in what he'd been riding at.

From what Cunningham just said on Racing TV, the poor young lad committed suicide (speculation I know), but it seems that's what happened....And I agree with Cunningham, the young do have it much harder in life than the likes of I did....
Nobody knows what was behind it though, that's the futile speculation. Even from Cunningham, as it might have nothing to do with his job.
Oh, I agree Cider.....I don't know if he has social media, but there are some utter cnts on there, ready to give young lads learning their trade dogs abuse.
I've never used it myself, outside of unavoidable scenarios. However nobody knows if had anything to do with this incident either. Definitely not having a pop, it's inevitable that people think why would that happen to a 19yo that on the surface has everything ahead of them. But nobody knows, possibly even some of those that were closest to him, why. It is a devastating thing to have happened, no doubt.

I fully agree. It is imagining the anguish he has endured which is so difficult. Poor kid, poor family who will be riddled with grief, regret, maybe guilt that they never saw the problem. He’ll on earth for them.

Not commentating on this case but isn't it the case that 3 or 4 times more young men commit suicide than young women ?
Truly devastating news, absolutely heartbreaking! Food for thought for one or two wild pockettalkers on this forum to hooefully moderate their rage!
There's gossip about him receiving unwanted attention at one of the stables he rode out for. Maybe wide of the mark but when you remember what happened to young football trainees some time ago there could be something in it.
The language used was explicit but you can't repeat it on here. I put it out in case anyone else had heard similar.
I thought this was about sean bowen after that ride on Ammes.
So much for letting the matter rest until an official statement
