1.10 Star Noir & Control Room both put up decent efforts on their 3rd runs and just qualify to take their chance in this race, However I believe there is more to come from NORTH WEST GAL (2/1) under Jason Hart who ran well behind Figjam (runner-up in Listed affair next time out) on debut at Leicester and was sticking on. Dropped back to 5F, Drawn 4 on a easier track, I fancy the Quinn runner to be made most of under the conditions and will see out the 5F well, which it often pays to be handy under these conditions in which the front runner rolls on.
1.40 TRULY SPECIAL (9/4) is interesting dropped in trip after showing up well for a long way over a mile at Leicester and looked like being swallowed up for the placings to just keep on enough to finish 3rd. Hopefully Jason Hart can once again like in the opener, make the most of his mount early on to really stretch the likes of Powernap who is stepping up in trip today from the minimum trip. Gunalt Wavelength form isn't anything special so the short price isn't advised, but warrants respect.
2.10 Gibside will be a good yardstick in this and has been running well in some better races then this, However the 3yo NIGHTSWHITESATIN (9/4) caught the eye at Nottingham with the view that there is a handicap of this level in this horse if he can put it all together. Pedigree suggest step up isn't ideal but in the Nottingham run after a tardy start, was seen to sticking on to finish a never nearer 4th in a race that is better then this. The win in the summer when smashing Triple force with ease showed to me that middle distances are suited.
2.40 A few of these are regulars at Catterick and Tim Easterby looks to hold a strong hand, However EVOCATIVE SPARK (11/1) is my choice in this race. Much of the season has had the weight taken of its back with 7lbs claimer and went well when in front of vince Le Prince here behind the course specialist Mudamer. The services of the claimer has now been done away with and under Shane Gray last time, he was going well when denied a run. Sean Kirrane takes the ride today and this lad does ride this course well and can deny his boss a win in this race (could ridden one for Easterby)
3.10 Tarabat Ness will no doubt turn up at Huntingdon over the winter for Mr Berry, While Bollin Nell looks for a hattrick and you wouldn't bet against that happening. However at a price EBONY MAW (13/2) is worth chancing back at this venue after running an ok race at Ayr Last month. That handicap was better then this and a return here with that drop in class under conditions suited is worthwhile alternative.
3.40 MONSIUER KODI (8/1) - Looks to have much in favour with the claimers 7lbs making him feasibly weighted for the conditions. Has gone well here previously, Drawn 4 handles the conditions and Form of last run is potentially better then this race.
4.10 Crocodile power won this last year and is always popular with Catterick handicaps such as these. He is the yardstick to judge all these kind of sprint handicaps by. HAPPIER (13/2) was in that race and is better weighted of those whom contested. David Allan returns to the saddle and last time these two paired up, he ran them ragged over 5F here. Draw is good and hopefully can attack and hold on this time, Im not sure much will get into it under these conditions amd his a live chance at a price
