I find it incredible that 12 men and women good and true can still be debating after more than 2 days, can only want the expenses and those that work, don't want to.

The younger one is as good as guilty. The older one might not be found guilty. I believe there's only one charge sought for this incident by the prosecution ie a charge of guilty or not guilty. Hence, the longer than necessary deliberation. Hopefully, a verdict of guilty on probability for both. I hope the younger one is given a severe sentence.

Has the younger one started a custodial sentence yet? He was found guilty and taken down on 25th Aug 2025, I believe. No further hearing for bail, etc.

Apparently the jury do not reconvene for their deliberations until Wednesday morning, not sure why.
The fact that they could not all agree on a verdict is remarkable given the "facts" that are in the public domain.

I've never been on jury service. I'm retired now. Any due diligence done on potential candidates prior to confirmation eg ethnicity, religion, social media, education, profession, etc?

Not when I was on impossible123. About a 40 or 50  would be Jurors just sat in a room. About 10am they would call a dozen names out and off you go to Court 1, same procedure for court 2. Trial proceedings 10.30 - 12 followed by a 2 hour lunch break. Proceedings 2.00 - 3.30 then home.

The rest just have to keep going in every day for 14 days hoping to get a trial. Slow and boring. No wonder there is a back log of cases.

Prepare yourselves for for a not guilty imo……they own the UK.

CPS are to consider going for a third trial Foyles. My money is on them calling it a day.

Unfortunately it seems some kind of dark forces are at play here considering the defendants are guilty as heck from the evidence of the video.
Would be interesting to find out why the jury kept deliberating for so long if it was obvious that at least a few of them were never going to return a guilty verdict.
Could have done with Henry Fonda in there with them !

My experience of jury service was very similar to that as articulated by barstool.

There are a number of courts in the Maidstone building and over 100 of us were often sat around for ages waiting to be called. I ended up doing two trials which were interesting to observe but were a waste of time really as it was obvious the defendants were both guilty from the start.  Each trial lasted four days and the court usher told me it cost about £8k a day to run each one (this was in 2001). An expensive business. The first defendant that we found guilty turned out to have 73 previous convictions

I know we have a right to be judged by a jury of our peers, but most of my fellow jurors were thick as mince and more concerned with what they were doing that evening rather than determining the fate of the defendants. Such is our justice system

The offenders in that asylum seekers hotel in Kirby. Did they get a time-deduction post their custodial sentences? I believe they were given stiff sentences as deterrent.

The jurors were unable to reach a verdict. The case was adjourned until May 29 to give time to the Crown Prosecution whether it wants to seek a third trial.

I think a 3rd trial would probably reach the same (no) verdict. It's always a risk to seek only a verdict for both. The younger scum was the instigator (was convicted on an earlier trial) and more responsible for the assault. I think the male copper did not help his cause by stamping on the head of the older scum. Both are marked men.

The judge told him, "as I'm sure you'll have been advised, there'll be an immediate prison sentence. How long that'll be I'll decide, when I've heard all the submissions by both counsel on that occasion."

Let's hope it's a long sentence as the assault was ferocious and unnecessary and against two police officers exercising their public duty.

According to the report probably since 26th Aug 2025 when the sentencing was scheduled to take place, but not reported by any news media.

Same in all trials, juries aren't aware of any previous convictions of the defendant. Sentence soon, hope it's a long time in the clink.
   Probably would have needed to be in a monastery not to have already known though.
