Anyone know if Zac was identifying as a "big sissy" on that particular day?

The race. A tad slow away, then squeezed a little on the rail. Not an awful lot there, didn't find when pressure was initially applied. Jockey certainly not the all action style of TM. In the last furlong he was giving it love taps, but had practically given up with the race gone.

A bit harsh from Haggis tbh....I watch a lot of Hong Kong racing and Purton is the master there. The horse could easily have just flopped....as Purton said

I welcome criticism, but perhaps she could have started with the million and one examples over here, and some not too far from home.
Storm in a teacup stuff. Still she has called out one more ride than most of the media manage to do in a year.

I just watched the Lake Forest ride and can see why she is so critical. It looked very unenergetic on the rider’s part. She should just have said the”result was disappointing” and determine not to use the guy again.

I like her. I fully agree with her comments about the ride of Lake Forest. She speaks her mind with utmost knowledge and experience. She does not hold back whether it is the BHA or a senior / established jockey or not.
The jockey was given specific instruction eg the horse needed cajoling and ridden with vigour.

Well if you listen to his reply he says he followed the winner for several furlongs but his horse simply wasn't good enough . Economics had a rushed prep according to Willie , why even rush the horse if you knew it bled in the race last year, cracks are starting to appear when you constantly try deflect the blame onto others...

Lake Forest is clearly an awkward ride - particularly at the start where he invariably loses 2 to 3 lengths. This is a race worth a fortune - nevertheless I can understand TM not doing the trip with his book of rides at Ascot and Longchamps over the weekend. However why didn't they send Fallon? He knows the horse well - ridden him to win etc. He only had 2 races at Ascot (both for Haggas)- one a no-hoper the other with just a squeak. He had not ridden for Haggas for some 4 days before Ascot and he went for another stable one ride in Germany on Sunday. Surely they should have coughed up for Fallon to have made the trip? As regards the Purton ride - after about a furlong the horse and/or jockey clearly became unbalanced and skimmed the rail. Whether this was symptomatic of a bigger problem on the day - no idea, though the 2 horses behind Lake Forest in the initial stages went gliding past later in the race without any response.

LF 2 wins outside of novice company 0/5 in group 1s not exactly a world beater is it
based on where the 1st 3 race he looked like he was maybe 2l out of his ground turning in but purton was niggling him & there was no response ...looks like toys have gone out the pram for not much

A jockeys life is a tough one , undernourished ,dehydrated , constantly tired from excess travelling . So I'm always reluctant to blame them . Sometimes though they do need to be called out . I have the greatest respect for each and everyone of them..

1st time poster -- Maureen Haggas clearly never watches the Hong Kong nags or reads Wikipedia:-
Zac Purton (born 3 January 1983) is an Australian jockey who has won the most races in Hong Kong racing history and won the Hong Kong Jockeys' Championship on seven occasions.
Here he is winning the Everest on Ka Ying Rising the same day he lost on Lake Forest:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEGlLiCQnIM

Could have had 4 jocks on board or none, horse was laboured and not good enough on the day. Never quickened, got lapped by two of the outsiders in the field. Not sure what Mrs H wanted Zak to do....

I agree. He didn't ride it like his life depended on it, looked like he wasn't too fussed at all once it looked beat. However, clearly they wanted an all action jockey. So probably better to book one.
