Dont think yesterdays card made a difference to the reputation of this years top horses. Too late in the year, IMO. congrats to any body who identified the 100-1 and 200-1 winners the Tote guarantee must have cost the nanny a lot on the 200-1 poke
Champions Day should not be held when it's cold, ground resembling a bog and everyone is wrapped up like it's bonfire night. Yesterdays ground wasn't extreme in fairness but I still don't think Champions Day should look like Cheltenhams November meeting.
The day should be put back by at least 6 weeks in my opinion.

I dodged a couple of bullets for not getting involved as much as I used to. The bookies cleaned up once again despite favourable conditions for most participants.

Ifit isnt broke don't fix it imo ok 2 rags won but some fancied horses won . Top class end of season racing taking us into the jumps season what's not to like

Ever since it started in 2011 people have wanted to knock this fixture the facts are it’s been a huge success, yesterday as ever a huge crowd and plenty of knowledgeable race goers the three best horses in Europe turned up to race each other ,the mares and the stayers were both won convincingly by the best in there division, all year the group one sprints have thrown up odd results,I must admit whilst really pleased they now stage a 2 yo race it does need to be better, perhaps get the futurity from Doncaster .

Whilst generally agreeing with your point that "Champions Day" is too late in the year you certainly can't blame the ground yesterday for the card producing a 200/1 and 100/1 winners imo. The times yesterday had only the 2 yo race, the fillies & mares and the last race h'cap producing slower than standard times, all other races were faster than standard. Take away the two outsiders winning and the rest were won by a 5/6 Fav 5/2 2nd fav 2nd, 5/1 3rd fav with fav in 3rd, 11/8 fav followed by jt 2nd favs in 2nd and 3rd, 15/8 2nd fav 2nd 13/8 fav and last race the h'cap won by 5/1 2nd fav with 1st and 3rd favs in 4th and 5th. My point is that most of the races produced results that you could expect. The 200/1 winner beat the "good thing Fav" that took out a 3rd of market and some of the other well fancied horses were perhaps racing on the wrong side of course with their high draws. The 100/1 winner beat last years early ante post Derby fav into 2nd with lto G2 winner in 3rd and C/D specialist in 4th followed by this years St James Palace winner Field Of Gold 5th and last years St James Palace winner in 6th. Perhaps the 2 long priced winners Powerful Glory who'd only had 4 previous runs and Ciceros Gift who may have had the best of the draw are just better than punters thought.
End of September would probably be better time for it but with Arc weekend shortly after and St Leger meeting before hard to fit it in, but do agree with some horses getting their winter coats on and generally bad ground it isn't ideal.

2 rags, even one of those owned by the Maktoums, other winners all owned by the obvious billionaires apart from Cicero's Gift, so nice so see the smaller guys having their day in the sun.

Ironically the 200/1 winner is far more explicable than the 100/1 winner. A case could certainly be made for the sprint winner, retrospectively. Not so much the mile winner.
I don't buy the draw argument either, plenty of evidence to show that the middle of the track was not an inconvenience. Not least from the 200/1 winner!

better than punters thought ? bearing in mind a golden horse went from 100,s on Tues to 12,s yesterday
how much would connections, stable staff etc have to have on in todays marketds to, make 66,s/80,s shots shorten in price as opposed to drifting to 100,s and 200,s ? ifyrainers, jocks, stable lads, owners don't no their better than they are how do you expect punters to no ?
