I would be surprised if Stumptown is not different class to any of the locals.

Its an interesting prospect and I wouldn't put you off backing Stumptown, but there are some things to consider.
You say locals but there are a few international cross country specialists in this and although Cheltenham sounds high up there ,it is generally contested by good long distance chasers.
Firstly we have a previous winner running in Sexy Lord, and experience counts for a lot in this unusual event. There is a french horse who was second in the Scottish National ( Clark Kent)so won't be a pushover. Add to that Chelmford who has won 4 of the qualifying races for this event and lastly a horse (High in theSky ) chosen and ridden by Jan Faltjsec who is a bit of a specialist in this race.
So I believe it's no walk over but Gordon Elliot must fancy his chances and B 365 have Stumptown at 15/8 on a special offer, ( do they know something ? )
Will be a great watch . I hope it wins for you. Will have a fiver on myself . ( well not on myself as I am not running, but you know what I mean ! ) Good luck!

They are up on bet365 . Stumptown, Sexy Lord and Chelmford are top three.

I think Chelmford has talent but is precocious with dodgy legs. This will be a rougher race than the qualifiers.  If its not soft , strike him out.

Stumptown, trained by Gavin Cromwell, not Gordon Elliott,  is a (probably) improving 8 year old and on ORs is already 39lbs superior to Cavalry Master (11 yo) and 21lbs superior to Klark Kent (9). I realise that Sexy Lord has course form and I rate him the danger (if there is one). I saw 7/2 available about Stumptown a week or so ago, but is best price 15/8 now and I will enjoy watching him win without my hard earned on his back. Good luck to punters.

Think the bit might've gone on the horse who was up there for most of that.
He was going quite well.
