Ayr
Going: HEAVY (GoingStick: 5.8)

Bath
Going: GOOD TO SOFT, Good in places (GoingStick: 5.3)

So a reading of 5.8 is Heavy, but Good to soft, Good places is 5.3

Yep total sense, as usual...Crazy

You cannot use Going Stick Readings from different Courses and compare them

It's meant to be a universal measuring system for going - so yes, you should be able to compare them...at least more approximately than this!

Different soil composition makes that suggestion impossible,Stu.

Do they still use the penetrometers?

Tell that to the BHA irons:

https://www.britishhorseracing.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Going-Stick-Average-Readings-1.pdf

As you can see they suggest it is an objective measure, and the related goings are listed with the numbers linked.
So something is 'wrong' in the above RP data....
