Question is,when they join coolmore they seem to always outperform.
Usual answer: very good trainer.
But its a free market and anyone can buy whatever they want;but they rarely achieve what AO'B does with the progeny.

Galileo - Sir Henry Cecil trained his best son - Frankel

Danehill - Sir Michael Stoute trained his best (and only ) Derby winner North Light.

He didn't train the best son of Sadler's Wells either - that was John Hammond.

Also Coolmore can send very good mares to their stallions.

Their own mares, especially for new sires, and by rejecting other people's poorer mares for established sires.

But its a free market and anyone can buy whatever they want;but they rarely achieve what AO'B does with the progeny.

Danehill was champion sire nine times in Australia.

No Frankel, no Dancing Brave, no Almanzor, no Treve, no Enable. It's somewhat disappointing really.

Suspect the best is still to come from Wotton Bassett looking at the quality of mares he covered this season

The sales will be interesting when these yearlings come up for sale

I don't know what Coolmore had eligible for the Goffs Million the other day but probably not a coincidence that their two big guns for the race are by WB, presumably with an eye on making him champion sire posthumously (and perhaps more relevantly preventing a Darley sire from having the title!).

However, even with the chunk of cash pocketed there, still leaves him currently around £440,000 behind the new kid on the block, Night Of Thunder.

Iirc, in the year of Sea The Stars, his sire Cape Cross probably should have been crowned champion, just the £27,000 in it at the end of the year, but the difference was Coolmore / Ballydoyle targeting the valuable sales races with Danehill Dancer progeny, which enabled Coolmore to maintain their run of standing the champion sire. However, this looks like being the fifth year running that they won't have the champion sire in their care, having dominated previously with Sadler's Wells, Danehill and Galileo.
