1997 will always stand out for me, a couple of guys from the Boro who I knew asked me to give them a price on the Boro to get into Europe, I thought here we go get your odds skills going, they had 3 chances, 1 to win the league, 2 to win the FA cup and 3 to win the league cup, I thought they will not win the league so 2 cups will win for them.
I offered them 10/1 thinking they would want 20 or 30 quid on, they asked for 180 quid on which I accepted thinking that was an easy 180 win. The next day they came back asking if one of their pals could also have 180 on, I didn’t want the first bet never mind the second one but had to take it. lo and behold the Boro reached 2  finals , on the Saturday before the league cup final one of them said if Boro beat Leicester tomorrow can we pick the money up on Monday morning, of course I said thinking where the hell am I getting 3960 quid from.
