In touch with leaders disputing third, weakened quickly and lost position 3f out, short of room against far rail over 2f out, ran on well inside final furlong, went fourth towards finish (op 28/1 tchd 25/1)
Is it me, or does that sound totally paradoxical as a description?
Can a horse 'weaken quickly' and also 'run on well' in the same race?
It could be up with the leaders, fall back quickly and run on again when the race is all over. So basically the comment is stating it dropped back quickly 3f but ran on again near the finish.

I'd agree cider - it never 'weakened' in the race basically, but did lose position for part of it...

"mid division, 4th halfway, pushed along in rear when slightly hampered over 2f out, ridden over 1f out, ran on inside final furlong to regain 4th close home"

Have you watched it's races stu, can't really disagree with the comments, runs like it'll need further in time, pushed along early to keep in touch, weakened when pace quickened to be last, stayed on well towards finish, would be my interpretation of last run and stayed on strongly on debut as well. Don't think this race looks particularly strong though, White Sand Beach looks to have a great pedigree but full sister wasn't up to much, Fav looks short as was quite hard ridden on debut to get 3rd.

Think it's the word 'weakened' that is wrong here Stew - that suggests weakening due to stamina - which wasn't the issue, just lost position and didn't quicken at the time.

I suppose outpaced might be more accurate, or lost position. Can a horse weaken and then run on again. I think yes but without context it seems a bit counterintuitive.
