When I go to Thirsk I drink in Spoons before and after and don't drink at the course -ditto eating on course .

Usually print out the cards from ATR (other sites are available) and read the paper in a bookies (unless being hogged by the guy who reads the form instead of looking at it on the wall- or spends ages looking at dogs) .

Incidentally the two Spoons at Carlisle both have RTV -why not Thirsk and Ripon.

think youve just laid to bare the problems a list of do,s and donts on a racecourse becauses its to expensive to do on a racecourse,might as well go out in country,seaside etc for the day especialy families, spend your leisure £ on that and leave a bet online

racing is not a cheap day out but can be if you cut a few corners...

looking at the prices for last race day of Thirsk season (next Monday) entry to course is excellent value at £15/£25

you pay more on a Saturday but the crowd will be different and probably with more disposable income so you have a choice pay or stay at home and do something else

but its no more expensive than going to a concert and paying same prices for beer/snacks/merchandise (£35 quid for a T-Shirt is daylight robbery)
or a football match again drinks/snacks/programme/club shop all can be as expensive or as cheap as you want it to be
