they're 5pl,1/5 for 5.22 & 5.52 races @ galway today
17 & 19 runner hcaps probably an error on their part to offer 5pl,1/4 but if its advertised & not an egregious palp its scummy practice not to pay |
By:
but then they get away with a lot of scummy practice
By:
if its a significant sum they owe you chase it
By:
Must be an error. They’re all doing a fifth the odds for an extra place. No big bookie is gonna break from that while they’re all in unison.
If you’ve already wasted an hour on it then I’d cut my losses. Can’t be much with what you can get on. Having said that email a bigwig, tell them you’re gone if it’s not sorted. If you’re profitable they will pay you under the ‘goodwill’ concession! |
By:
Fyi was £40 ew so payout was £128 instead of £150. Thanks s.kenbo for the advice. Yes its only £22 but its the principal.
By:
they are scum lewis
play on the e/w market on here near the off traditional terms 4pl,1/4 for 16+ runner hcaps similar terms to 5pl,1/5 & usually better odds |
By:
Have a word with Morse imo
By:
Screen shot or rip the page from the lazy post advertising the place terms, take it in and shove it up their nose.
By:
And remind the munt working there that it ain’t their money nor a system error!

By:
Let me tell you I’ve been in the same position with many multiples and it’s funny how the system could make some races 1/4 or 1/5 of the odds even if the runners in the results didn’t tally up.
As tesscrow says every little counts and they want it in their bin not yours. Imagine how many people all over the county get stitched the same way. Old boys and girls with their Luck’s etc …. |
By:
But,they are the only people who can get a bet on.
Anybody with even half an idea and wants bet seriously is not wanted |
By:
It was an online bet, Delia!
By:
If it was online you’d have had the terms on the bet?
By:
simples...
glue the locks. |

I can't remember the last time I saw any bookmaker offering ew 1/4 5 places, but if you have proof I think they should be obliged to settle on the stated terms.
By:
Punters are less and less likely to get satisfaction in a dispute with bookmakers these days.
No sense of fair play or sportsmanship it's just hide behind the terms and conditions. I had a dispute with Hills recently and they wouldn't budge an inch. Spoke to IBAS who said they didn't think chances of success were very good so don't bother. Wasn't always like this - there were sporting gestures like Paddy Power being the first to return stakes if a horse failed to come out of the stalls which was quite a breakthrough at the time and the rest followed. Hard-faced accountants in charge now. |
By:
You’ve got a good case here Lewis.
Pricewise in Saturdays RP clearly stated WH were 1/4 for 5 places & all 20 ran, so there should be no argument. |
By:
Don't want to sidetrack the thread but I think giving money back on horses that don't start (with no malfunction) is more attention seeking than sporting gesture.

If it was online you’d have had the terms on the bet? You’d think so wouldn’t you and they advertise their big offers in the post. That’s why I’d go in and of asked for the papers. |

But,they are the only people who can get a bet on. Anybody with even half an idea and wants bet seriously is not wanted They are betting pennies yes it’s true, but they are still ripped off for pennies. Those make them ££££’s. So I agree it is about principle and I hope that you get your money. I hear about lots not being able to get on but I’ve seen punters have on 100’s in a shop no problem. |

letter before action (LBA) - plenty resources online to help - and remind them Gambling debts are enforceable in the UK if they are from lawful gambling, such as from licensed casinos or betting shops, under the Gambling Act 2005.
extra monet be in your account next week. |
By:
In reply to CaptainCristy yes the place terms were clearly stated on the betting slip/receipt online, and this was on around 10 or so bets I did including the 2.40 race. Thanks also to hulk23 and I will be doing the LBA, and also to saxon firm who's confirmation this was in the Pricewise column gives me even more ammo!
By:
Not sure how they get out of that one.
By:
Poaste ya bets
By:
lewis, as hulk says the LBA should resolve it within a week. On the off chance it does not, you have all the damning evidence to send to IBAS, screeeshots etc.
The Racing Post pricewise evidence is on page 17 last Saturday. |
By:
If stated in the Racing Post 1/4 the odds first five then that’s pretty good evidence.

Apologies for the worst after timing ever on the previous photo uploaded.

Saxon - your screenshot is for the sprint cup at Haydock.
The OP had his bet in the 2.40 at Ascot - do you have a screenshot for that race ? |

Apologies for several shocking attempts…..Chilean Merlot.
I hope the above is of use! |
By:
Thanks Saxon. Can't see how Hills can deny those advertised odds.
I actually bet on the race with them but win only, so my online bet history doesn't show any place terms. |
By:
If Lewis has the place terms on his bet receipts screenshots, it is as clear as day.

They are now advertising quarter 5 places for the Portland on Sat. Thanks everyone for your help.
By:
this saturdays portland , w hills e/w terms online.
18 or more must run for 5 places 1/4 to be paid. 12 or more must run for 4 places 1/4 to be paid. In the event of 11 runners or less, standard EW terms will apply. |
By:
It’s been advertised that the races @ Dony were 1/4 odds no matter how many runners - on the prices on the RP, not hard to screenshot.
By:
Let it be a warning to you all this digital world, give me the old paper and print out with place terms and odds written on it any day.
