A Mug's Game - rare Mike Leigh, 1973

Just watched it, seems a peculiar program made for Schools TV, was there a moral to it in the end? Was it meant to make the kids think about gambling and to make their own minds up. The horse race backer was pretty typical of most of us i guess, remember the big wins and forget the losers, but a good 20 min watch, thanks howard.

Nice to see Jay Trump GN on it, some old familiar names running, Freddie in 2nd, Peacetown, Mr Jones, Volcano, Rondetto to name a few. Forgot winning rider was Tommy Smith an amateur, incredible really that 3 years later won the 200 metres at the Olympics.

Was he nick-named the Aintree Iron?

Grand National, Olympics: is it the first of April again?

It's true Ramruna, Tommy Smith won the GN and 200m at 68 olympics.
