"we have just kept Lambourn ticking over, we haven't been hard on him in his training at all. This is just an in-between sort of race for him. We'll decide what next after this-whether he'll go for the Ledger or the Arc. He's in good form but I'd stress we haven't been hard on him at home".

AOB.

Superboost: Lambourn is 13/8 with 'Denise' - max 100p only; 'sly' 6/4 - max 250p. Pathetic both!

Backers of Carmers will be delighted for the run over a distance to short, plus not the clearest of runs, will be a different animal with extra distance.

Can someone explain to me where the benefit lies from running a dual Derby G1 winner in a G2 anyway ?

I’ve no idea.  He looked an ordinary horse today.  The form variations today at York make punting a minefield.

York,with a few exceptions is a minefield,Honcho.
I still remember Brigadier Gerard losing his only race there

So do I.  I couldn’t quite believe it at the time.  Roberto wasn’t it?
By:

When: 20 Aug 25 23:24
It was.
Lester turned the ride down to ride Rheingold and a Panamanian jockey rode Roberto (the Derby winner).
Both the first two beat the Course Record.
An inexplicable result that has happened since at York

I’d forgotten the Lester dumping of Roberto.  I think Rheingold gave him his first Arc win?
By:

When: 21 Aug 25 12:53
Rheingold may well have won the Epsom Derby if Bill Williamson wasn't jocked off Roberto to be replaced by Piggott , we'll never know.

It was astonishing really.  Twenty yards from the line Piggott whipped the horse rapid fire.  My memory is that he was like a demented dervish.  Would he have gotten away with it under today’s rules?

Would a loss in a G2 not devalue stud fees to a greater degree howard ?

Just seemed a strange target

THE PIGGS famous RATTER TAT TAT,  for us of a certain generation most famously administered to  THE MINSTREL to win the derby, was punting as a 17 yr old and backed HOT GROVE ew at 28,s

doubt if he will be anything but a NH sire leopard. He's a soft ground stayer.  They know that whatever the targets. Only an Arc win can "save" him. He is being run to fit in with that aim. Nothing else matters.
By:

I cannot envisage Lambourn commanding more than £10k per pop. I think he'd be more suitable for NH racing. He won 2 very substandard Derbies, both managed and fortuitous.
