Great to see that at least one politician understands the issue ref tax which could kill our industry.

Nigel Farage is a keen racing enthusiast and in four long year's time he will be in position to help racing.

They will at least hold the balance of power on the illegal immigrant issue alone

Like it or not Farage and Reform have got most things goinf for them in the next election.

Reform tho, contrary to what many of the popular media claim, is NOT a Far Right party: Supporters who will likely continue to vote it in come from all those sick of Labour's politics, poor understanding of business needs and the UKs overall economy, useless immigration plans plus all those totally disenchented by the latter years of appalling Tory mismanagment of just about everything and their current inability to unite and clear out the pathetic and still bitter pro-Europe lobby. They do NOT need any support from purist liberals or greens [their previous pro Europe and antinuclear policies plus obstinacy in a net zero fixation which will bankrupt us].

Nigel will have his work cut out to put together a competent cabinet, but here's hoping some experienced business men will come to the fore: there are so many areas of government that need a radical sort out from the civil service to the NHS, Home and Foreign Office, Armed Services, Energy, Water and Education. They have my vote for now. THEY CAN HARDLY DO ANY WORSE.

"They can hardly do any worse"

If only I share your confidence. Farage is all mouth, with little between his ears. I'm concerned some Labour MPs and their supporters with no UK interests at heart or national pride eg those who do not integrate, choose to speak their own lingo in public, etc, defecting to Reform and hijacking the Party just prior to a General Election.

Farage is a megalomaniac like President Trump, but without his wealth or financial support. Farage will sell Reform to the highest bidder to feather his own nest politically eg to become Prime Minister, to some business entities with no political experience at local or national level.

The recent and well-publicised spats between Farage and a few elected Reform MPs ostracised by Farage and his cronies is a real concern.

Impossible

Since Mrs thatcher we’ve had loads of prime ministers and high ranking politicians with plenty of political experience unfortunately none of them much good so perhaps it’s time to try another way.
Report LoyalHoncho August 4, 2025 7:23 PM BST
My “real concern” is that we all more or less said that Starmer and Labour couldn’t do or be any worse than the Tories.
How wrong were we?  So can we be just as wrong if we facilitate Farage and Reform?
I don’t know the answer any better than anyone else.
I do know this however.  The only way we could/can secure our borders and coastlines will quite definitely mean alienating some of our most valuable European allies.  France, Belgium, Holland and Germany will all have to be dealt with.
Do we, as a nation have the will, and the bottle?

I'd like to see UK Plc get the best politicians (those not with self-interests only) across all political Parties, and a group of very smart retired head honchos of plc like those in Singapore to steer UK Plc to better days; UK Plc must have a 10 yr economic plan eg Singapore and China.

I'd also like to see a radical change in the welfare system where dole money is not a given regardless unless physically and mentally disabled at birth; access to the NHS on qualification only eg residency of at least 15 yrs for foreign subjects on PAYE only, similarly housing.

I'd also like to see an immigration plan similar to Rwanda implemented immediately - the only meaningful and major deterrent. At the moment providing welfare, housing and immigration facilities are costing UK Plc a bomb which cannot be sustained in the near future. For instance some towns in the UK on average about 40% of the inhabitants are on socials. This is wrong, and the funds should be used in capital investments to enhance UK Plc economically.
Report impossible123 August 4, 2025 7:47 PM BST
UK Plc is akin to an individual but on a much larger scale: expenses cannot exceed incomes for long periods unless they are for investments which are generating a revenue stream. Otherwise, some of these expenses will need to be culled.

Presently, the revenue stream or GDP of UK Plc is not increasing sufficiently to fund the ever-increasing costs in welfare, housing, nhs, etc.

Any foreign national except infants and young children who entered the UK without due diligence, scrutiny or whetting eg illegal immigrants, undocumented individuals, arranged marriages, inter-country freedom of movement, etc, will be more liable to commit a crime against the state and people of the state. And, if the laws of the state are insufficient to be a deterrent or to justify a custodial sentence like in the UK there will be more copy cat offenders.

The UK is too soft, and too hospitable with illegal economic migrants, period. Hence, the incessant illegal incursion of UK borders.
Report swiftynifty August 5, 2025 12:36 PM BST
GDP per capita is lower now than in 2007, population increased by over 8 million in that time, forget the illegals for now, can someone explain how letting in up to 900,000 a year has benefitted this country? You never get the answer.
Report barstool August 5, 2025 12:40 PM BST
As soon as they land on our shores they should be charged with illegal entry, handcuffed, put in orange jump suits, marched off the beach in a chain gang and taken to a secure immigration camp site and fed with just soup and bread to minimise cost

Put that on tv every night and the UK might not be the place they all want to come to.

Sounds harsh I know but what else will stop it.

Any illegal immigrant should be sent to places like Rwanda, Timbuktu, Somalia, Afghanistan, etc (they can choose) whilst their application is being processed. Similarly, those in the UK without papers. Also, stop the backdoor entry eg uneducated/non-English speaking care home staff who'll only be a burden to UK social services in the future.
