I wonder if there’ll be any confidence in Mattisse on this track? There seemed none at Ascot, I remember saying that Moore gave a big sigh in the stalls just before they opened. As though he was going to the gallows and through the motions.

Stewards Cup:  if Elmonjed gets a low draw, preferably one to four, and Saturday’s going suits - good or good to firm - I’ll be on.  Won very cosily last time and I don’t think the 6lb penalty is relevant because I think he has a bit in hand with this one.  Haggas wants his third win in twenty runnings and am convinced he’s had his sights on winning this with this horse for some time.

Have not long ago finished a book about Vincent and Gauguin and their time together in Aries at the yellow house. An excellent read and amazing how the author put it all together from studying the letters between Vincent and his brother Theo, as well as Gauguin’s to friends.

Some hilarious parts and was funny how it told of dividing up their living expenses, Vincent being unorganised Gauguin took care of it. Coffee, eating out, art materials and nocturnal hygienic outings! Yes the brothel! It was all accounted for!

I never take an early price on horses, occasionally do on dogs, often do on golf.  I Always ensure they go before playing.
