Agree Irons , several hardly getting a look in , jockey we booked for our horse last night has only ridden a few winners but his input after the race was as good as anyone , Shane is a workaholic and like most of them does it because he loves it..Its the jump guys I really feel for racing in very short Winter days and weather not always great plus the threat of injury is never far away..

It's particularly tough if struggling to do the weights and not getting the rides.

Yes a really poor season for Jessie , in my travels doing all the British courses I would base myself in a Hotel for a week and travel back and forth from there . I can assure you before the week was ended I was absolutely shattered , so can you imagine what these guy feel some starting their day around 5.30 and not getting home until all hours without been able to eat or drink anything...

Yes battling health issues etc like lots my age but overall when long Covid leaves me alone i'm flying thanks , still going racing most days and playing walking football, and going to see the club I have supported since I was a kid all over Ireland .Still popping over to the U.K. for the important meetings heading to York for the Juddmonte..I hope you are fit and healthy LoyalHoncho...

Not really sure about pressure, given that most of them spend majority of time losing (statistically obvious anyway given runners) - I'm not sure they give a sh't about losing their races half the time? They expect it so often.

I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to claim here - do you not agree that jockeys lose most of their races? Statistically it's clearly true that they do just that. Therefore it is highly likely they expect it, every day that they work. Yes, they try to win - some of their races - but they are hardly going to be distraught when they lose - because they do it time after time every day. That is a fact, not opinion.

Maybe you are claiming the cry themselves into sleep, or feel terrible for days, after every loss? Strange when I just see them grinning at each other and being pally with each other most of the time, win or lose in the races. Jockeys seem to me fairly relaxed people before and after races - not something that could be said for most other professional jobs...
