I've been watching it for months without sky subs, but last week it came to a close.  Any way of fixing this without restoring sky?

I got sky tv essentials rolling contract for 15 pcm if that helps, and multiroom £5 pcm for a year. + RTV 14.99 pcm.

You can probably get tv essentials for less, as that is the standard pricing.
Report Cider July 12, 2025 4:35 PM BST
Through sky q box that is. For me it was worth £15 pcm to retain my sky q box and functionality.

I just wish racing tv could provide the broadcast online at the same speed as betfair so I don't have to subscribe to sky.  I'd even pay a little more!

Report Cider July 12, 2025 6:05 PM BST
For me the UI of sky and sky Q features are brilliant, and worth the small subscription payment. I personally have no interest in subscription sport or movies anyway (aside from rtv)

until last week the sd racingtv for some users was about 2 secs  behind live - put i this way it would be ahead of sky racing at normal speed on sky box! It was the only channel to be so near to live, now it's about 20ses behind with hd abut 5 secs behind that. I  believe 75/year is a fair price, films and ppv included .

Report spyker July 13, 2025 10:38 AM BST
Can get it for 30-40 if really want, pay a little more and get ultra channels and catch up on many channels etc. get mytvonline3 and record, rewind etc. You pay for what you get.

enni gay porn channels?
Report bettysboy July 13, 2025 11:44 AM BST
poncho - there are several options out there for about £80 pa. All are about 45sec behind so no good for IR. All includes Sky, BT, TNT, BEIN, NOW, OPTUS, DAZN plus all EFL & EPL games. Also included are thousands of movies including new releases and TV series collections.
Delivered through a fire stick, which you need to have registered with the IPTV provider, I find that using a basic Amazon stick delivers better quality than a 4k stick.

45 euro a month for a RTV sub am I reading that right? Genuinely insane. Dodgy box your only man. I'd go as far as to say if you're not intuitive enough work out that value alternative you probably shouldn't be betting / watching racing in the first place.

That's the base price if starting out. I am aware of deals that can be done if you haggle with them as an existing customer. Think the gay stuff is an add on. Maybe you can enlighten us on that

They are two different things obviously. I love my Sky Q box, the UI, and the features but have little interest in Sky content or wokeflix. Sky TV essentials is a product that they don't advertise for obvious reasons. Others might feel different but keeping my Sky Q 2TB, and the UI, plus the multiroom is worth it for £20 pcm.

RTV is a negotiated discount for 12m contract.
Report duffy July 13, 2025 3:37 PM BST
Still on Sky+ here, won't get sky Q because for some reason they didn't build the slo mo feature into it, I use that all the time when replaying finishes, American Football, looking at an offsideGrin

I will probably go to streaming only eventually, probably when the sky q box is eventually knackered.
Report s.kenbo July 13, 2025 4:02 PM BST
I’ve recently gone down the Sky Stream route. The live content is about as far behind as the firesticks. I can watch a race on ITV, and if I’ve got Sporting Life open the result will pop up before they cross the line on my telly! Loads cheaper with the Essentials package though.
Report Cider July 13, 2025 4:19 PM BST
I've read online people getting contracts for tv essentials for a tenner. But I went for the rolling contract for the time being. There's a new app out that you can stream terrestrial tv for free, but currently it's only available through an integrated tv. I should image sky will be sky in name only at some point in the near future, and satellite will be turned off. They are pushing everyone on to streaming and glass. Then RTV might have to go streaming only!

What happens when the Internet goes down?
Report s.kenbo July 13, 2025 4:45 PM BST
You’d have no telly to watch. Internet doesn’t go down any more though.

What about pausing, buffering, just like we get on a racing feed, I know a lot of that is down to the site but I don't like the idea of completely being dependent on the internet to watch telly.Scared
Report s.kenbo July 13, 2025 5:20 PM BST
It wasn’t very appealing to me either. There’s no buffering or lag at all. I don’t know if that’s down to good internet speeds or not.

I’m saving over £60 a month with it. My only real loss is Sky Sports, and hundreds of channels I never watched. No Babestation either so that was a blow!!
Report mrcombustible July 13, 2025 5:22 PM BST
I have full fibre 500 with EE, guaranteed download speed 425Mbps and have not had any pausing/buffering issues.

I cancelled my Sky sub about 2 years ago so I don't have sky racing , I watch sky racecourses on BF Live Video

I bought two amazon fire sticks, one for the main TV and the other for the bedroom. I watch racing TV via streaming and your sub allows you to use 5 devices.

I also have the app on my phone and laptop so are currently using 4 of the 5 allowed.Obviously no good if you want to bet in running.

I have no regrets about leaving Sky and I am happy to stream everything now. One of the main advantages of streaming is you can watch your programme at a time to suit you and not at the fixed broadcast time. The various apps are fantastic for watching old programmes you had forgotten existed
Report duffy July 13, 2025 5:24 PM BST
What about when you've got bets on lots of televised stuff and you want to record different things to watch later on ???
Report mrcombustible July 13, 2025 5:31 PM BST
I only bet on horse racing and can watch replays on many websites, I don't know anout other sports as have no interest
Report s.kenbo July 13, 2025 5:39 PM BST
I don’t record much anyway. You can still watch racing and record things though. Not sure how many recordings can be done at a time.

80% of the stuff I watch now is through the stick or Netflix.  There's no enforced adverts to watch like there is on ITVX and all the other station’s equivalent.

I pay £65 a year for the firestick app. Drop me a message if you want to know anything about it. I can get a fully loaded one sent to your door for about £125.
Report kennethturrell1 July 14, 2025 8:09 AM BST
Around Brighton the going rate is currently £50 for someone to get you access to something such as B1g once of course you have your f/stick (which you have paid for} logged to your tv.

This lasts exactly 1 year and after that pay another £50 for the next year etc etc.
Date and even time it expires shows on the screen

It is possible to download B1g yourself and then contact a number via whatsapp to obtain access code loads on youtube about this.

B1g gives you all sport channels films amazon etc etc including RUK and ATR.

However when watching all the top premier football games its very hard to enjoy as extensive buffering and for in running punters a non starter as goals red cards etc etc will show up on the b/fair screen minutes before its on your t.v when using f.stick.

For a premier game there are about 6 different channels showing the same game so best to avoid sky watch games via Hong Kong or U S A channel as less buffering.

Same as horse racing as often the result of a race will show on b/fair screen before race even started on the tv via f/stick far slower than RUK or even ATR.

Its ok for £50 a year and I don't use it myself due to reasons given.
Report 1st time poster July 14, 2025 8:57 AM BST
all of the above other than i do use it and pay £65, less buffering on TNT and sons amazon business  acc comes up on my stck so get their epl,ch lg games with no buffering, not that invested in many if any EPl games to throw a wobbler at any buffering so havnt resorted to watching therm on hong kong, usa, spanish feeds but like above i have been told about it
been over 2 yrs without sky had half decent deal around £40 then £50 but they wanted £80 +, and that was with sky Q,which is no good to me as i dibnt mind the sky + as i had it set up at my static caravan so was getting 2 for one but wouldnt work with sky Q,ive now got broadband at van for around £20 a month and take dodgey stick up ,working ok

Tip re IPTV watch sport only 60fps ( frames per second) anything below that such as 25 will make Frankel look like a claimer and balls in football look like slow motion
Report Stringvest July 14, 2025 2:17 PM BST
How do you know what fps you are using ?
Report ASonOfWottonBassett July 14, 2025 2:55 PM BST
You should have the option on clicking on "I" that gives you stats. Generally the US sports channels are all like 60 fps where as some of the UK ones are only 25. HD are higher than SD etc

Bit of an ask here but I'm looking for a new setup myself

Have zero contracts or sports channels these days but I do now need access to all live racing, football w/o buffering - quality feeds

also golf and tennis although not as important
plus also added on android and able to use abroad

firestick ? I'm totally in the dark when it comes to all this

Anyone suggest an economical(ish) way to approach this I would be grateful

My mate says go there - I think they do charge a small fee to join but it keeps the riffraff out (sort of) and go to the thread where people ask for a service and wait for replies and weed through the obvious sheisters and choose 1 after a free trial which if not offered ignore .Everybody basically asks for films and sport, if you want ultra then ask for that . If it's your main medium then seriously look at mytvonline3 and a z11 pro max (£140) or similar as can record rewind etc. Prices anything from £30 (which I wouldn't touch with a bargepole) to around 100 but don't need to pay more than 70-80.
Report ASonOfWottonBassett July 16, 2025 2:32 PM BST
Can link you in to a reliable service I got. Operates off Discord. With any of these it does require a bit of technical know how to setup. As others have mentioned make sure and get a free trial and see can you get that going first before committing to a subscription
Report s.kenbo July 16, 2025 3:35 PM BST
