Charlie says that Notable Speech is "a powerhouse." Good enough for me, maximum bet!

The present division is poor in comparison to previously. I hope he wins. The division needs a special horse.

Big Mojo had no luck in running at Royal Ascot, 3yo have a decent record in the race. Backing win and place.

Good luck.

Spy Chief was first seen on a racecourse less than three months ago but I'm hoping he's worth a chance at 20/1 or 26 on here with the option of an in-running lay. His Jersey Stakes 2nd over 7f already gives him an official rating within 4lbs of all but four of his opponents. I can't see anything that's likely to take him on for the lead and it's possible his jockey will try similar tactics to what produced wins for Audience last season. The wide draw may help with this. If this is how the race takes shape then No Half Measures may find herself well placed and 50/1 a nice price for a progressive filly.

Gone Believing ew, not for the first time he ran badly at Ascot but was poorly drawn
flashed home a few times over 5f and this uphill finish over 6f should play to his strengths
has good grp1 form (3rd in Abbeye, won Gr1 over 6f at Meydan etc) and hopefully Billy will produce him fast and late

Well done Mr Hughes! A 1st Gp 1, and at Newmarket too.

It was sporting and brave of Mr Appleby and Godolphin to run here. But, I think Notable Speech will run over 7f, and no more (maybe in Ireland); 8f is just too competitive for him.

cropsick, great point @1726. We are breeding for speed but our sprinters are rubbish! God knows how that happens. You would think the odd miler, whom we do breed for, would be ok dropped but no.....And in the UK we can't beat Coolmore over 10f (often) and 12f+ (never). One wonders what we are breeding for!!!

Great shout The wire and, Different Gravy, I hope that the lady that led up the horse doesn't read your disgusting comment. Richard Hughes is one of the nice guys in the sport and choosing her to lead up the winner must have been one of the greatest days of her life. WD Hughsie.
Whats next for NS? He's looking a bit one paced on fast ground and I would like to see him on better ground, which he may find in Deauville in the Jacques le Marois, we'll see.

Disgusting comment from Different Gravy.

The sprinting division has been weak for a long time.

Pleased for Hughes.
Report Delashay July 13, 2025 3:58 PM BST
I’m pleased for Hughes and people had written off a horse that had never been out of the first two over six furlongs in four starts.
Take a look at in running comments and you’ll see that she’s been running over 5 mainly and in nearly all it says , “Nearest at finish.”

I think races get called crap when we’ve overlooked the winner. The booking of Neil Callan was important too. He knows sprint pace from racing against  the best in Hong Kong.

Also she was only 2 lengths behind Believing in last years Abbaye as a 3 year old. Those on ITV have been talking about her non stop all year…. ‘Zzzzz.
Report Delashay July 13, 2025 4:05 PM BST
I’d be wary of saying Notable Speech will be retired, after running in the wrong race. Godolphin have a knack for doing this. Why didn’t he go for the easy Mile at Deauville? The mile there is shortest in distance anywhere. So if he’s not retired what could they be setting up?

He never lost at Ascot because he never stayed but the Jock on Docklands had hemmed him in as he had done to Shoemark in our Guineas.

This quote is from the story on the post now about Dancing Gemini going for the Marois.

When I spoke to John Gosden the day after the Queen Anne and asked him if we'd left our race in the Lockinge, he said, 'Possibly' but he was right that it was a farce of a pace in the Queen Anne," said Teal. "Our horses are strong milers and needed a strong gallop and we just got outsprinted.

The one horse who should have been suited to that has just run over a sprint trip!

This game really can make fools of us all.
Report Delashay July 13, 2025 4:20 PM BST
I reckon that they’re working bc, from another crack at the Breeders Cup Mile, via the Forret. It’s at the same track as where he was beaten 1L last year. They know the route and more importantly they’ll get the odds.

Whether he wins or not they’ll be hoping and waiting for everything in the mile devision back here to shoot their bolt and take him there fresh. Trainers try to win races they know and think are winnable.

I expect Aiden is eyeing the race for Mattisse too so he can attempt the juvenile turf / mile double as Appleby has dine previously.

Tomorrow I’ll awake to the news of retirement! Laugh

theres a side on few ,where the winner is under the cosh miles out, hanging, struggling to go past the gosden horse far side and looked a million never mind 66,s shot, noble speech probably broke to well and went to fast tracking tearaway leader on this side
Report Delashay July 13, 2025 5:30 PM BST
I’ve not seen 1tp was it on RTV?

After the Kings Stand result was anyone surprised at the biggest priced winner here? We all know that there’s no superstars.

Yes Loyal the Queen Anne throws some shockers and in some years it’s lucky to be called a G1.
