Charlie says that Notable Speech is "a powerhouse." Good enough for me, maximum bet!

The present division is poor in comparison to previously. I hope he wins. The division needs a special horse.

Big Mojo had no luck in running at Royal Ascot, 3yo have a decent record in the race. Backing win and place.

Good luck.

Spy Chief was first seen on a racecourse less than three months ago but I'm hoping he's worth a chance at 20/1 or 26 on here with the option of an in-running lay. His Jersey Stakes 2nd over 7f already gives him an official rating within 4lbs of all but four of his opponents. I can't see anything that's likely to take him on for the lead and it's possible his jockey will try similar tactics to what produced wins for Audience last season. The wide draw may help with this. If this is how the race takes shape then No Half Measures may find herself well placed and 50/1 a nice price for a progressive filly.

Gone Believing ew, not for the first time he ran badly at Ascot but was poorly drawn
flashed home a few times over 5f and this uphill finish over 6f should play to his strengths
has good grp1 form (3rd in Abbeye, won Gr1 over 6f at Meydan etc) and hopefully Billy will produce him fast and late

Believing the unlucky horse in the race hampered two or three times and would certainly have finished closer than 4th

Thanks for the messages. It just looked like a race where there would be some big priced ones in the frame. It's always been one of my favourite races since Cochrane weaved Chief Singer through a quality field in 1984.

Another confirmation that our current crop of sprinters are moderate. 12 of them within 6 lengths.

our sprinters in uk and ireland are and have been poor for a long time now , and bar a few milers and middle distance horses  thats another poor lot compared to years ago,

Well done Mr Hughes! A 1st Gp 1, and at Newmarket too.

It was sporting and brave of Mr Appleby and Godolphin to run here. But, I think Notable Speech will run over 7f, and no more (maybe in Ireland); 8f is just too competitive for him.

cropsick, great point @1726. We are breeding for speed but our sprinters are rubbish! God knows how that happens. You would think the odd miler, whom we do breed for, would be ok dropped but no.....And in the UK we can't beat Coolmore over 10f (often) and 12f+ (never). One wonders what we are breeding for!!!
