Managed to keep a profession as a jockey for so long
He won the arc u know
But watching him settling a horse when trying to hold it up on a tricky track like Epsom, no lie is like watching a 10pts claimer he has no coordination, gile or balance and looks so cumbersome on a horse, watching him makes u realise u don’t have to be good at something to earn a living. He is quite possibly the worse rider I’ve seen in my almost 40yrs of watching racing
I remember seeing a horse go wrong once while he was leaping around all over it's back.
Yes, most horses are strong enough to take his 'style', but that does not mean it is a good one to use regularly.
I also often see him getting even more ridiculous on horses that had drifted, and that often makes the horse fade with him flinging himself all over the place on it.
So, a stupid style like his can be used for 'different' reasons IMO.

...those 2000+ winners came over a twenty year career....he rides way more horses each year than many other jockeys,,,,around 1000 per season in the last five years.
No one is saying he can't ride a winner Ashleigh, just that he is the most ungainly fellow on the back of a racehorse.......Sir Mark employs him, so that must count for something I guess......and Sir Mark provides many of his " point and shoot" short priced winners.

Looks like he’d have earned a few quid during those five years. 5000 rides equates to £850k just for the riding fee. Nearly £6m in prize money would net him around £500k. Over £250k a year is pretty good for a fairly average jockey.

Not quite, they have significant costs, plus handing over plenty to Rachel from accounts. If you think of how many scalps there are out of a jockey's riding fees and prize money, not as good as it first appears. Still won't be poor, obviously!
