Is it me or are 2 year old favs getting beat far more than they should.

Maybe it's just the ones I am backing.

For now I have stopped looking at 2 year old races.
Pause Switch to Standard View 2 year ols favs getting beat.

there's a concentrated power or financial power more than before imo.  Often owned by ever more clueless owners that spend too much .  No names Wink

The class of race for which there is the least amount of information is 2yo maidens. Only the stable connections have a clue about home work while some of us like to look at pedigrees. There is also very little to link form between different maiden races other than times which can be misleading. The number of long priced 2yos at Ascot that finished in the first 4 tell the story although Aiden still managed to win 3 of the races there.

I agree with you Howard

And homework might not equal trackwork for one or two runs former often because you don't kill 'em first time.  Still not easy laying though probably easier with IR lays.

I like races for lightly raced horses though sageform. Punters and trainers largely know what they have to beat in 4-y-o + races

I also prefer races with mostly lightly raced horses. After many years watching the sport I seriously doubt that more than 30% of horses do their best after a couple of hard races. The champions do as do some very durable handicappers but if you look at RPRatings a lot of horses never reproduce what they achieve in the first 5 runs. Some slow developers are exceptions but on the whole I avoid races where they have all run loads of times. Once raced 3yos are my favourite category.

sageform is right that only connections know about unraced juveniles but this should mean favs win more often as the market is led by inside information.

This imo shows how useless inside info is most of the time. A lot of insiders are lousy judges which is why they shovel dung for a living.

A good 2yo is still a well kept secret in some yards. I doubt if they lock up the staff for a week like they used to thoughLaugh
