Started off as an Irish course photographer utilised by betfair to tell them when a race was "off", "finished", "Photo" etc..

His big break came when Breon Corcoran took over betfair, made it the b**tsch of Paddy Power and promoted him to its customer facing face (ridiculous google glasses included).

But he knew where the bodies were buried re forgiveness for on-course bookies' debts so that's why you've been enduring him for the last ten years.

Can't say I'll miss his weekly chats with pumpkin head. It's the type of gig that when you sit down and try to justify the cost it's just very easy to cut. Did well to bluff away this long really.

whys is he leaving? not that im a fan, just that its another sign of notfairs degradation that was accelerated by corcoran, who 'consolidated' the business, i.e sacked everyone not absolutely essential and then walked away with his giant bonus. it was just a vehicle for self-enrichment. friend who worked for barclays capital was approached by him looking fo tips on where to place his loot, took it but didnt sign up after being wined and dined for several months. horrible creature

Breon Corcoran managed the 48/52 merger between betfair and Paddy Power (must have been 2012/13).


Since he had already worked for PP, some may say that congress was always his "vision."

Remember, when he took over, betfair didn't know whether it was a tech company or a bookmaker with an "appetite for risk."

His line boss was Andrew Black, and Corcoran hit his targets..

Betfair could never have undercut the likes of Goldman Sachs. In some ways, general access to the internet worsted betfair.

But there was always the ambition to crack America - fair play, betfair had an office in SanFransancisco in '10: it kept on knocking at the door and eventually  got in.

Shareholders who stood the course have done well - very well - but who knows where Trump takes us all?

He didn't even seem suited to the job. I vividly remember him chairing a Cheltenham preview and he was noticeably grumpy the whole evening, zero banter and often getting thick with the crowd when they got a bit jiggy. Not the best personality

"As many as 220 jobs are at risk in Flutter Entertainment's UK and Ireland division, as the gambling industry giant transfers its brands on to a single tech platform. The company said the move came against the backdrop of increasing costs and regulatory pressure.

The vast majority of the redundancies are set to come from Flutter's tech and product team and mainly at the company's Wellington Place headquarters in Leeds, although a handful of jobs are also set to be lost in Dublin.

Flutter is in the process of moving Sky Bet to the Paddy Power Betfair platform. A spokesperson for Flutter UKI said: "As part of a broader strategy to bring some of our brands on to a single tech platform – and against the backdrop of increasing cost and regulatory pressure – we have entered into consultation with a number of colleagues.

"While we are working with those affected to explore redeployment opportunities wherever possible, it is likely that some roles will regrettably become redundant later this year."

Flutter's UK and Ireland region was the second largest within the group in the first quarter of the year, producing revenue of $882 million (approx £653m/€770m), although some way behind the $1.7 billion generated in the US.

According to Flutter's annual report for 2024, the company employs 27,345 people worldwide with 31.6 per cent, or around 8,640, in the UK and Ireland."
