"The Establishment" typically refers to a dominant group or elite that controls a society or organization.

well googled ricardo

its not something you would have come up with and is wrong. it doesnt exist. its a favourite of conspiracy mugs that are obsessed with the 'deep state' and its power to control

its total bollox. 'they' are always at it and we cant see it. but youve seen enough loonytube to know better

mugs have an almost touching belief in the power of elites to lie cheat and fool the sheeple. and they never break rank, despite it being a giant con, with untold numbers involved. amazing

examine what it is you allege in the way you would 'question' the official narrative and it falls apart. but mugs dont do this. confirmation bias reigns

The point he was making is if you "fight ( and kill/die ) for your country " it can be the case that any benefit is not long lasting. Britain would now be considered a sh1thole by nearly all of these men if still around. Correct ?

I count some Irishmen as friends as someone who has spent 60 years around horse racing but that does not mean that I like Ireland as a country. During most of my adult life, Ireland has been a hostile nation to UK. They fought hard to achieve independence (for good reasons) but continue to campaign for the rest of the Island to be part of the independent Republic of Ireland. Why on earth should UK treat them any more favourably than France, Spain, Poland or any where else in Europe? The Irish citizens have freedom of movement to UK over and above what any other EU citizen has. Why? The racing industry lump Irish racing with GB for some statistical reasons. Why? We allow Michael O'Leary to tell the UK what to do about airline policy but not the heads of Air France, Lufthansa or Turkish Airlines. Why?
As far as the topic is concerned, I might occasionally mention a horse that I have bet on but never the stake which is my own business and nobody else. Betting is a hobby that I do for pleasure for small stakes and not relevant to anyone. I invest 1000 times more in the stock market than on horses.

So he mentions the horse when he has buttons on .... but doesn't post his "bets "  when  x1000  stock market.   You can never appear to be an idiot that way can you ? Wink

I have mentioned my shares on the appropriate forum. Not bitterness exactly just asking why they are treated differently from any other independent EU country. The IRA (Irish Republican Army) is the only one to attack mainland UK and kill my fellow citizens in my 81 years on the planet but we give them free access. Yes we have free access to Ireland but why?

THat can't literally be true Sageform. There was a little confrontation that lasted until after you were born (the V2's didn't start until June 44). I'm also assuming other terrorist attacks are excluded from your analysis.

Yes, sorry excluding the WW2 for which I was not old enough to remember but I do remember the attack on the UK Government in Brighton and of course many battles in Northern Ireland which you may be aware is in UK. And please don't tell me that the combatants were all UK citizens. I am no fan of the Ulster Loyalists but I am a patriot. LH, why would I be happy to see Irish horses win our valuable races? No different to watching India thrash our useless cricketers.

Sage, it’s a historical agreement, common travel area, dating back yonks.
Also it’s geographical, as to the close proximity. 52 miles,  It’s also related to trade
As both countries have huge trade with each other, with huge volumes of goods
And people moving back n forth, would not be practical

And also we spent  400 yesrs fcuking them, committing mass murder, by
Multiple state forces/agenicies. We were also responsible for the famine in 1845 on
Killed 1.4 million Irish people. We treated the Irish terribly.

The IRA evolved from thé IRB, as they could not achieve full independence through
Political precession. They took up arms, I agree they committed some unspeakable crimes
As we did. And Howard is right, we both avail of the CTA agreement, it works both ways

Only a metre apart if you count NI. We are almost as close to France but still have passports, customs etc. I am aware of the history etc. My point is that the Irish really don't like us but we admit them here as if they were British citizens.

LHLaugh, well they are just some of the facts LH, its what happened
It’s the same with the Israelis, I admire there restraint in the Middle East
Hamas committed atrocities not seen since the crusades, on October 7,
How thé hell did people expect them to respond??

And I know that’s a minority view, it certainly Is in Ireland, I was there
Last week, vast majority are pro palistinian. So you won’t be in agreement

Yeah I ment to respond to Roysl Academy’s post, we have a complete and
Utter disaster of a country here, and it’s getting more fcuked up by the day

Mass immigration facilitated by a Neo liberal political elite thoughout Europe
They call it progressive politics, they now realise it’s a total disaster, most
Of EU now moving to the right, and the biggest issue ?? Immigration.

We have over 300,000 Romanians here, probably more, did any one expect
or vote for thst ?? I think you were been too generous earlier, in your description.

But you see now if you or espouse any opinion contrary to the left wing ideology
You are called all sorts of monikers. It’s almost like left wing fascism. Your are silenced??

I expect a few over there were hoping Germany would batter us.
Someone in their Government sent condolences for Hitler snuffing it.
There were also people from Eire who joined up and fought.
