Vondrousova cruising at 6-1 5-1, but in the end looks as if she has fallen over the line. My feed went down so missed the end. Interesting had Kessler managed to level up.

Harriet Dart moaning as per usual.

Can Boulter keep the door shut? Not so sure. Only takes one blip.
By:
Absolutely excruciating play from Boulter again
By:
Very good from Boulter to get it back together again. Like so many unable to see it out in two, but plenty of effort and fight.

good win for Emma, must've been gutted when she saw she'd been 'randomly' drawn against the world number 318.

she'll be on all the back pages tomorrow hulk...
job done. |

some good looking games for me today...
final set of Fritz v Mp Perricard should be good... why on earth they can't play past 11pm is beyond me... and the Rinderknech v Zverev match looks like being one to watch (currently 1-1)... Monfils v Humbert another good looking match... Muchova v Wang Xin has the makings of a good match imv... Joint v Samsonova another one... Siniakova v Zheng is one i will watch... Krejcikova v Eala looks hard to call imv... Avanesyan v Rybakina could throw up anything so will watch that one to see how Rybakina is playing... and Yastremska v Gauff could also be a good one... busy day. |
By:
Azarenka v Zakharova is one i missed...
somehow i reckon it won't be an easy ride this for Azarenka... i could be horribly wrong of course (probably will be)... of course / obviously not the player she was... will be keeping an eye on this one. |

World number 33 Yulia Putintseva raised security concerns about a spectator during her first-round match at Wimbledon, asking for them to be ejected.
Early on in her match against Amanda Anisimova on court 15, the 30-year-old complained directly to the umpire about a spectator, whom she described as "crazy" and "dangerous". A club spokesperson said the matter was "dealt with". During a change of ends when trailing 3-0 in the opening set, Putintseva, from Kazakhstan, first voiced her concerns. "Can you take him out, I am not going to continue playing until he leaves. These people are dangerous, they are crazy," she said. She was then seen pointing towards an area of the crowd and described the person as wearing green. The chair umpire came down onto the court and spoke to three members of security staff. When Putintseva was told play would resume, she was heard saying she did not want to do so until security had handled it. "Take him out, because maybe he has a knife," she said. Putintseva was emotional later in the match and went on to lose 6-0 6-0 in 45 minutes. She did not speak to the media afterwards. A spokesperson for the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) told BBC Sport: "Following a complaint about the behaviour of a spectator at the match on court 15, the chair umpire informed security and the matter was dealt with." Anisimova, meanwhile, told the BBC she believed the spectator had been saying something "when [Putintseva] was about to serve" and added: "I am sure that we were protected". Earlier, AELTC chief executive Sally Bolton said on the subject of security: "We're well-versed in the measures that need to be put in place so players can go about playing here in the confidence they're being well looked after." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/articles/c87333ypxlyo |

Wimbledon is a great spectacle but between them and BBC they still do some really daft things.
1.Centre Court starts at 1.30! 2 hours of potential play lost in cooler temperatures and the second match on centre did not start until nearly 6pm. On top of that, no matches actually start until at least 10 minutes after the scheduled time as players set up their camp, fiddle with rackets and then knock up. All that could happen BEFORE the start time. No other major sport behaves like that. 2.BBC switch matches between channels presumably because they still think that most of their audience don't know how to change channels to watch the 6pm news. They have BBC 3 and 4 doing nothing until 7pm! Why not have tennis on those as well from midday? They televise them all anyway on iplayer so almost no extra cost. The security issue is quite difficult but allowing players to sign things and take selfies after each match does not look like adequate protection to me. |

Is this stuff about dodgy spectators getting worse?
Maybe she should have just walked off because losing 6-0 6-0 in 45 minutes is pathetic. |
By:
sageform....
you are spot on with all of that... no play on show courts until 1pm and 1.30 is utter madness in the early rounds... i've told Wimbledon that myself... obviously of course it went in one ear and out the other... and whilst the BBC coverage is extensive on iplayer... BBC3 and 4 are wasted opportunities... again i have told the BBC that and of course obviously got completely blanked. |
By:
there are lots of nut jobs out there dd...
but i do think players will exploit it as always happens in sport... just look at the ridiculous head knock fantasy island nonsense in football ffs. |
By:
last night's Fritz v Perricard match was fantastic...
great atmosphere etc... 10:15 it stops abruptly... absolutely dreadful... at the very least they should say that if the final set isn't started by a certain time then it's stopped... 10:15 is pathetic... if it lasted an hour and went to 11:15 is that such a crime ? just totally spoiled it for the fans who had stayed. |
By:
H H, Law from the council all play must end by 11pm so they seems they decided better to end on a set rather than possibility of resuming the following day mid set ?

Wimbledon increased prices this year
Tennis fans visiting Wimbledon this year will need to dig deeper into their pockets as prices for food and beverages at the prestigious tournament have risen across the board. A pint of Stella Artois now costs £8.85, whilst Guinness is priced at £8.45. The traditional glass of Pimm's, a Wimbledon favourite, will set spectators back £12.25 and a bottle of water is £5. |
By:
Putinseva the biggest nutter on The Circuit ffs.
By:
Happy hibby you obviously love your tennis, i always thought it was a bit of a racket myself.
By:
Nice of the authoritys at Wimbledon to have the Health and Safety of the fans at heart and only charging £5 for a bottle of water on the hottest day of the year.
By:
Total exploitation, but it's one thing calling out, another doing something. It's just accepted.
Early women's matches don't look too exciting. Doubtful that Watson will keep Tauson out there long enough to have a chance. |

Very true GC, Tap water should have been free on demand, ok it would probably poison you. They make enough from Strawberries, pimms and drinks on top of admission prices to make that concession surely.
Couldn't the knights templars in the front row have chucked a few quid into the kitty to make sure everyone was hydrated. What would have been the outcry if the person taken ill on center court had died, £5 for a bottle of water disgusting. |
By:
oneten...
yep i knew it was a Council thing as opposed to Wimbledon itself... but it's absolute madness imv... talk about a nanny society... a few lights can't be on after 11pm coz the residents can't sleep... a complete and utter farce imv. |
By:
old ones are the best stewarts...
i just wished more folk got in to tennis tbh... brilliant sport imv. |
By:
Alexandrova / Pegula and Watson on here for starters.
By:
I am usually asleep by 9.30 so I would strongly object to street lights after that
. As it happens we don't have any in my village. |
By:
Touson can't keep the ball on the court, very heavy handed
By:
Cocciaretto 1 Pegula 0...
oh dear Jessie. |
By:
Hibby, it's about the noise and people getting back home on the tube rather than lights.
By:
Yet another indictment of the consistency of the women's game that a 23 seed can come out and play total rubbish. So many of them in a comfort zone.
Pegula off the back of winning a tournament also inexplicably easily drops first set. Nobody wants to be playing an extra set in these conditions. |
By:
Seeding is on points earned so the more often you play the more likely you are to be seeded. I must admit that I had never heard of Tauson until today. Watson is very inconsistent but can raise her game at Wimbledon.
By:
cheers for that Swifty...
all a bit too 'nanny society' ish for my liking... totally ruined the match last night imv. |
By:
well that's not quite true sageform...
points earned are different depending on the status of the tournament... a 1000 event gets you 1000 points if you win it... i think a grand slam is 2000 points but not that sure tbh... and it's on a 12 month rolling format... so if you win a masters event in 2024 you get 1000 points... get knocked out in the same event 12 months later you lose the 1000 points... so it comes down to retaining as many points as possible on a 12 month rolling basis... but clearly if you don't play you ain't going to keep points... but they also have protected rankings and all sorts of stuff... so it ain't as simple as play and you get points. |
By:
Cocciaretto....
well done love. |
By:
Pathetic result from Pegula. What's the excuse? Bit tired? No doubt killed off loads of multiples. You cannot trust this lot at all.
