Drifting a bit, but surely a million from draw? All the fancied horses drawn high.

This week I repeatedly got emails (in scam category) telling me my Cloud storage is nearly full, and action was required. But, I'm not backing the horse.

At least three races in one. Find the winner of two of them and still be a loser... Laugh

My Cloud looks like 2 Frankels strapped together!
Absolute beast… and Varian knows how to win a big handicap.
Small stakes only obvs,
Report Storm Alert June 18, 2025 5:02 PM BST
My Cloud 3/1, rolls-eyes. Bookies overround 145%, nearly GN profits.
Report impossible123 June 18, 2025 5:04 PM BST
Did Tancred Sand win this race in the past? I think he won a few good handicaps in the 80/90's.

Who in their right mind bets(backs) in this type of race?
Report DIFERENT GRAVY 12 June 18, 2025 5:08 PM BST
Fav backers LaughLaughLaughLaughLaugh

Out ran the draw. Can't help thinking he would have won had he been drawn high. Very difficult to make all the running in a race like that.
Report Storm Alert June 18, 2025 5:11 PM BST
Its never a bet apart from being able to say "I got the winner of the Hunt Cup". Bullet Point players gutted I should imagine.
Report Cider June 18, 2025 5:14 PM BST
No way is the runner up beating the winner if they were drawn together. Would have helped him if anything.
Report Herbie-53 June 18, 2025 5:16 PM BST
How many times has that tit Chamberlin mentioned Forgotten Voice being 4/1?

He obviously doesn't remember Cumani's Bankable at a ridiculous 13/8 having over a stone in hand...though that wasn't enough!
Report Cider June 18, 2025 5:25 PM BST
If you get a genuinely unexposed horse, in a massive field the market still tends to underestimate them. Obviously still need the run of race, fair track etc. It's an angle I really like. Just on the maths the market has to give the exposed ones a theoretical chance. I reckon the winner wins that 50% of the time, regardless of the massive field.

Marquand had to use Bullet Point from the gate. Totally different ride had he been drawn high. The winner had an ideal trip. Impossible to say Bullet Point wouldn't have travelled equally as well as the winner did.
Report Cider June 18, 2025 5:35 PM BST
The winner would have travelled all over him. Just have to look at the distance him and Greek Order put on the field on their side inside the furlong.
Report uptheirons June 18, 2025 5:36 PM BST
Clearly a Group horse.
Report Cider June 18, 2025 5:41 PM BST
Real World won it easily from the front drawn on the far side I seem to recall. He was a group horse. For a while anyway Grin

Real World hacking up on the far side:

I backed him so I ought to remember it. Probably my last winner Laugh

I neither have the time or the inclination to trawl through these big fields any more.
Good luck to those that do

We’re pleased for you.

It must be horrid for you to be inferior Honco
Report differentdrum June 18, 2025 5:53 PM BST
You can have no idea that the horse would have travelled all over him. Would the winner have been able to make all on his side? I doubt it.
Report uptheirons June 18, 2025 5:53 PM BST
A lottery DD
Report Cider June 18, 2025 5:54 PM BST
fwiw I didn't back My Cloud. But generally it's easier to look for the ones where the handicapper hasn't seen everything. There are not too many of those knocking around. Every now and again you'll get one who is receiving concessions from a handicapper that falls in, but tends to be when there are no genuinely unexposed horses. Sure BP is in that category too, no surprise that they were 1-2
Report Cider June 18, 2025 5:56 PM BST
I was actually planning on starting a thread on here to track the ones that appeal as unexposed in these big money big field handicaps. But it's quite a commitment to keep it going
Report penzance June 18, 2025 6:02 PM BST
My Cloud was always going well. All the other getting the  hurry up 2F out.
Report LoyalHoncho June 18, 2025 6:03 PM BST
Look up Timeform now and then.
Report Cider June 19, 2025 4:59 PM BST
Pretty early in their 3yo season so the Britannia is much more likely to have unexposed runners. I feel like the Haggas runner is the best candidate. 92 isn't a giveaway but quite difficult to give him an accurate mark and obviously first time in a handicap.
Report Cider June 19, 2025 5:07 PM BST
Another 1st time in handicap takes it.
Report Cider June 19, 2025 5:14 PM BST
Same as the runner up.
