He was runner-up in the English Amateur championship and is now studying at Florida State University - booked his place via a play-off at a qualifier in Atlanta.

went through qualifying. finished ahead of the likes of zach johnson. he's there on merit.

I wont green up. To my mind he's a 10/1 shot. By the time he hits 10/1 he'll be 4/5 behind, in which case I'd have him as a 20/1 shot.So greening up would mean me taking bad value imo. I'll let it ride to the bitter end.

i layed 100 @ 3/1 before he'd hit a ball. then another hundred at 11/4 after his opening drive. then another ton after his birdie at the second @ 5/2. still 70 holes to play ! a grand liability is my max, i was waiting for another ton at 2/1, but the lowest he's gone so far is 9/4.

My quid went on JJ at 330 (I follow Fergal ) and £1-50 ew at 95 . Plus JT Poston (in memory of Peter ) and Tom Hoge at huge prices . Its how the other half live. Have cashed most out .

shocking coverage for the lad on sky,went through the full scoreboard about 10 times and jumped over/ignored  his name everytime,mentioning people who had worse scores than him at the time

How did he do? Is he in the next round or more to come? I do not know how golf works.

tyler +5 first round. very commendable. half way cut will be around +8/+9, so in with a chance of making the weekend, which would be awesome for the lad.

I won a pro am at the Oxfordshire playing with Jason and Fallon a few years back he loves his golf and must be very proud of his son making the Open a huge  effort.

75,74 (+9) looks like a couple too many. a great experience for him.

A good effort on this course especially for an amateur.
