Met him at Newcastle once. He spoke to me like he had known me all his life , cheerful and polite. Cant imagine many of our pundits today bothering to give their time like that so can't criticise him personally. I can see how his stock phrases in commentary can get annoying but at least he doesn't give me a Jerry Hanlon headache.
