weather was way better than forecast, course in good shape, smallish crowd but decent sized fields which has definitely not been the case in UK these past 6 weeks - surely even those fools at BHA now recognise that 6x 4 runner fields at Huntingdon serves no purpose other than to dilute further the 'quality' of the racing product? oh wait a minute, let's show a bunch of Gen Z suited-booted-powdered-proseccoed to the nines having a blast (!) and that will bring the punters back in their droves!!

nice to meet 3 Irish lads over for the day on their attend all tracks quest and share views on where we've been and the stand outs (Killarney - most scenic of the 100ish courses I've been all over the globe, Listowel June meeting for my 60th celebrations one of the more memorable - shout out the New Kingdom bar!) and those still on the list (Down Royal, Downpatrick, Dundalk, Ballinrobe, Naas, Limerick, Wexford & Tranmore to complete Ireland for myself)...hope you made the flight home and good luck on your future travels.

How was the music Gordon ?

Stopped me from renewing my membership years back tbh……

didn't affect myself and our group one little bit as we drink in the hotel and then go out to bet/view, whereas the music is behind the stands and barely audible (maybe different on the box of course depending on where the mics are)...Hamilton does have a few music events post racing but tbh it doesn't affect the regular racegoer too much for the same reasons, now Ladies Day is a different story because it's impossible to avoid the droves of dolled up cougars (some of our group may disagree!!) or the bachelorette parties and the incessant whoops from the MCs trying to jolly the D list celebs judging best dressed - LOL..been a member now for 10ish years, members bar not great but hospitality viewing is really good and the addition of the hotel has been a real plus

Maybe I’m just sad and old fashioned reminiscing the nineties….park in the members park and sit in silence drinking coffee until the first race….how times change..

Coffee in a proper cup….now we press a button….

The betting ring was a hive with big players tic tac and cigar reek belching out….

lots of good things from the 90s but the facilities and quality of racing (usually) is way better at Hamilton now than then...if only we could get back to a lively betting ring with 3 rows of books offering a range of odds and food-drink prices not too much higher than local shops-bars

Hamilton has always been popular with the southern yard’s Gordon, you could almost punt them blind at one point tbh…

Freddie, big Matt and Tommy Morrison all past….
Report Gordon63 May 29, 2025 11:36 AM BST
do you mean Tommy Morton? always seemed he offered the best odds, although Macbet and ricky (was it martin?} blond haired guy who would offer 17-5 and 12-5 etc when others were 5-2, 9-4,,,happy days and you had to be in the ring (not the bar with your phone like now) to get a bet on. Ayr was even more popular with southern yards Brian Taylor-jeremy Hindley were pure gold there and also Bruce Raymond when he was up. remember going to Ayr specifically to bet Paul Eddery on Sabre Dance for the much Loved Sir Henry
