Question about ante post High st bookies practice

Very handy when they pay too little and the punter can't remember the price

I thought you had to use the terminals for ante post bets..

To be honest I hadn't placed an ante post bet in a bookies in years. With all people say with getting a bet on thought I'd see if there was any issue....there wasn't, but never heard of not putting the price on the ticket. Like I say they assured me it was standard practice and that I'd be paid at the price taken.

Sounds like bollox to me, if you ask they can give you a digital copy of the bet including price. I would go back with your slip and ask for one.

Trust me when I say I questioned it. I was 100% told that this was practice now and that the price (6/4) is logged on the system. We'll see if and when it wins. All the people behind the counter (inc manager) said this was normal. It was Albert Einstein in The Coventry. Yeah I know it's short but half the point was seeing if I could get on and this felt a good time to see.

When there’s a mistake made…. The first thing that gets blamed is THE SYSTEM!

Funny thing is about 15 years ago I placed an ante post bet at Betfr*d - It was £550 @ 10/11. They rang up to accept the bet, which it was, but in between the lady behind the counter putting the phone down and putting it through the till they cut the price to 4/5. This time the price was on the slip. When I came to cash it in they were adamant that it should be paid at 4/5 as that was the price when it went through the till. I explained that the price was cut because of this bet etc. Had to go back when the lady who took the bet was in to confirm what I said otherwise they wouldn't have budged. So on one level I have faith that the price is logged when it's put on. Lets see when it wins.

If no price wrote on it and he didn’t run you could claim it as an sp bet therefore you would get your money back f course corals wouldn’t stand for that but if you took it to ibis you would win your case.

I have absolutely no doubt you should return to the shop and get a price wrote on the slip and put through the camera again.

This "no price written on slip" is news to me too. I've not backed with a high street bookie for over 15 years. To me,

No price written = No contract at a specific price. As such, it's open to interpretation.

100% correct.

I placed an ante-post bet at 20/1 and they didn`t mark the price and sign it at the time. 2 months later they paid me out at 6/4 on the day and told me it was the bettor`s responsibility to make sure the price was on the ticket. It took me weeks on end to finally get paid at the correct price. I know things are electronically now but I would never ever accept an ante-post receipt without the ante-post price marked on the ticket.

..... you should have put the bet on online and there would be no such problem.
