White Birch has been a "softie" where Coolmore is concerned. He treated Auguste Rodin with contempt to win easily in this race last year. Then, and suddenly off the track every time one of Coolmore's was a protagonist race after race. And, today White Birch gave a walkover to Los Angeles. He gave Los Angeles a freebie!

AOB did the same thing with The Lion In Winter. He treated The Dante, and the runners in the Dante with disdain turning up with a horse as big as 'Five Bellies', the close mate of Paul Gascoigne. Let's hope he'd redeem himself at Epsom.

At least i have the wonderful memories of the middle 70s to 2000 era , plus the frankel years , this lot with mullins destroyed the game imo, i tbh dont even look forward to the classics , group1 any more

I do not mind gamblers in a stable. What I do mind is a stable in the satchels of bookies eg a shortie drifts like a barge, and 2nd string backs as if the shortie has lost a leg. The 2nd string is given an unassailable lead at the start, and wins easy.
This sharp practice happens fairly regularly in Ireland - Flat and National Hunt. The IHRB does nothing because it occurs with big stables of high profiled patronages. |
