Anmaat has a good form profile, but slight drift in betting a slight negative.
Initial betting moves indicated that Los Angeles was a lay,but the betting is now dithering all over the shop,so this race is a good one just to watch, may the best horse win. |

After the rain we've had, I will chuck a few quid at White Birch.

Sticking with Kalpana although 10 furlongs is a bit short for her. Very good race though.

Usual guessing game in regard to fitness and race targeting. You wouldn't think this it for him, more important stuff later in the season. Doesn't mean he can't win of course, and Dwyer stated that Crowley was very hopeful of a big run last night. Ascot form doesn't always hold up either, and that was a very odd race.

Yes sageform it’s a very good race

A soft/softer ground is not Los Angeles conducive; his price contraction is trainer induced. The ground will play into the hands of Anmaat and White Birch. I think a 1st race for Kalpana (distance is not ideal too) is a negative for me; Ghostwriter has had many chances last season, and is exposed.
White Birch if best to his annihilation of Auguste Rodin will be too good, I think. |

Sunday - The Curragh 3.05 – Anmaat
This fellow is a real old favourite of mine now, and I’m really looking forward to getting back on him. He’s a lot further forward this year than he was last year, when he still won first time up after a long time off, albeit that was a Group Three, and this is a good looking Group One. He’s been to Kempton for a racecourse gallop, and Owen Burrows was very happy with him, he’s not easy to get fit at home as he’s a real old pro and very relaxed about the job, so whatever he does here, he will improve, but as I say, we’re very happy with where he is. We’re drawn in stall six, and slightly lower would have been preferable in order to drop him in, but that said, he’s versatile enough to be up with the pace or sat off it, he doesn’t need to be ridden one way. There is rain forecast on Saturday, good ground will be fine, good to soft would be great for us, but we’ll take what we get. Of his rivals, Los Angeles and White Birch are match fit, while Kalpana is starting her season like us, but we are the highest rated in the field, and I’m not sure any of these could have done what he did at Ascot in the Champion Stakes, he showed an unbelievable turn of foot that day. |

Agree with maleuk01, the only worry is the drift but that could be down to the long lay off, a lay off that he has overcome before though. Beat Los Angeles fair and square in the Champion Stakes, has to be a decent bet for a place at least. White Birch the biggest danger.

last night on RUK Martin Dwyer said he was talking to Jim, he said the horse was really well plus he was really looking to the Curragh tomorrow. |

A great 3 day fixture something for everyone
By:
Certainly is Jimnast, i was there on Friday, met up with Workrider. Wish i had stayed the full 3 days.
By:
Hello Andrew hope your well
Never been to this fixture if the fixture list is the same next year I will definitely go. |
By:
Couldn’t believe the price big gossey was sent of yesterday what an insult,he should have won ,I fancied my mate Alfie to win the race who was a little disappointing.
By:
Jimnast, agree with Big Gossey, the times i've backed him over the years, we all thought he was over-priced. Unfortunately, i was travelling back so didn't see the race.
By:
Once I realised my mate Alfie wasn’t going to win I was cheering for big gossey as he is my favourite horse in training and he owes me nothing, also Debbie did back him so at least I would have got a drink out of it.
Hope the owners run him at royal Ascot it would be a great day out for them with a horse who would run very well even allowing for how much of a curragh horse he is. |

wow some drift on ANMAAT 14.5 on here
By:
Looks a very price. No fluke about his Champions day win IMO. As for Big Gossey.....I had nightmares about that ride last night
By:
jesus I thought he had that

Keanne got into an alley with no where to go. I hope Gosden was watching this. The same could happen with Field Of Gold in the SJP at Ascot.

Colin Keane going up the inside, to track Continuous, 3 out

Lack of peak fitness, fine margins.
By:
from years reading Jims blog he has no hesitation in telling readers he is always easy on first time out horses but having looked at that ride he was poor.
By:
Pacemaker did his job
By:
The second perfectly produced but the race fit winner found plenty
By:
Colin keane was atrocious imo and I had winner backed in double with moored earlier winner
By:
White birch had every chance to go past kalpana looked like he didn’t want to
Agree however not the brightest of rides |
By:
Rapid time, harder to tell with the strong wind but suggests much quicker than White Birch wants it
By:
CT Keane would not have gone up the inside if he was riding for Juddmonte. It is what your up against backing the smaller owners, it was a no f00ks given ride. If it comes off I am amazing, if it dont I still have my job at Juddmonte and will take my fee, then make up some old wives tale as to why it wouldnt have won anyway. All pilots are unregulated, overpaid ego's that are anwswerable to nobody.

Sosie ground it out at Longchamp, and similar from Los Angeles here. Both looked beat, and neither looks to have that big gear change associated with the very best. The second looked to be cantering all over the winner. Got there too soon, or not good enough? His record first time is pretty good. I thought Kalpana was the one given the shocker. She broke very well but Murphy has allowed her to drift back into a very poor position. That gave her no chance, and you have to think she is better than that. Murphy 0/3 on the horse, other jocks 5/6. I would be looking for a different jock.
By:
Keane was piss-poor. He only had the winner to beat yet followed the winner's pacemaker. What a plonker of the higest degree! A Group 1 down the swaney courtesy of Keane.

Grade 3….
Westover at Ascot KG…..laughable to this day…. |
By:
Where next for the horses that ran in this race? Prince of Wales for Anmaat.... Hardwicke/King George Los Angeles .... White Birch & Kalpana ?
By:
As I said I had winner backed but for me keane costed connections that race just look at the difference there once again with Moore I understand he's mostly on the best horses but his consistency is top top class imo

There have been hundreds of occasions where the O’Brien horse looks there for the taking a furlong out and just keeps going until it wins.
