The question for me here is whether it will be able to perform as well in a Group 2 at level weights as opposed to Handicaps.
Horses has a turf record of 7/20. 6 of those wins have been in handicaps and 4 at Class 2 level. It’s never tried this level before and it doesn’t get the weight concession it is used to. It beat Rumstar last October but was 9lbs better off at the weights. They are off level weights today and given it was a blanket finish in that race that 9lb reversal may be key.
Trainer has tried this level 32 times in the last 5 years with 4 winners. It was all the same Horse though, Euchen Glen. His course record over the last 5 years isn’t that great with 2/52. CD wise it’s 1/10.
Horse has been here twice before, Class 2 Handicaps finishing 2nd and 3rd.
Has it to prove at it’s not a gimme this race.
