First of all did anyone believe him, and secondly, should any trainer be sending out any horse, let alone a Grade 1 horse, 80% fit? If the owner wants to put up with it then fine, but why should he be allowed to play games with punters who wouldn't have any idea? Of course nobody in the media says a dickiebird.

It is impossible to state with accuracy that a horse is 80% fit and it's nonsense anyway.
If you rate the winner 112 yesterday via the second the horse would put up 140 when fully fit.
Is there a person alive who thinks that?

The horses weight would be an indication of its state of readiness but a percentage call is cobblers
