Just for an interest I’m going to record my stats for the rest of the flat.Start tomorrow…I think the AW tracks would surprise a few tbh. Probably do a weekly….

Been recording all my bets - and I do mean all - ever since I started betting in 1974!! (And that is absolutely true.)

Until we moved to the North 20 years ago, my best track was Brighton and then Sandown. But it has now become Beverley. Least profitable - and I mean do mean a loss here - remains Ascot.

Over the past 10 years Nottingham has also been poor for me but this season it is my best track, eclipsing Beverley in the limited number of meeting so far.

On the AW, best track by miles and miles has been, and remains, Southwell. Worst AW is Kempton, to the point I do not consider the racing there anymore.

I know why Ascot remains the worst (just too competitive) but as to why the profitable tracks work for me I am yet to find out!!

Records since day one you have my respect, most just throw bets around like confetti.I bet you know exactly how much profit/loss to the penny….expenses included…

I remember reading somewhere that Musselburgh was the best track for favourites and I wouldn’t be surprised if Doncaster is one of the worst.

Best is Wincanton. Local trainers farm a lot of the races.

formoftheeace...thanks for your comment.

Yup, although it makes me look like an anorak, I do know exactly where I am to the penny after all those years and what my expenses were. Either recorded in a couple of small sized ledgers from the early days or on spreadsheets.

After a losing day I find it theraputic to come home and type in the losing set of figures - it's a way of drawing a line under a bad day and moving on afresh.

Now, am I in profit after all these years? Well, after X's I am, but it ain't much!!!

Although I had a great career in IT, and then a business and was able to retire at 51, I look back at the countless hours studying form for the dogs and horses and then time spent travelling to the tracks, before comparing that to the profit and realise I could have qualified as a professional person (IE Doctor, Solicitor etc. etc) in a fraction of the time I've spent on the gee-gees - and I'd be considerably weathlier than I am now!!!!

But, you know the old saying. A bad day at the track is still better than a good day at the office, factory, call centre etc. etc. !!!

Totally in control The Knight.

I listened to a pro on YouTube who doesn’t do records or spreadsheets….he goes on what’s in the kitty….probably wake up one morning without a bolt in the bank tbh…
