Happened to me a couple of times now. Potential payouts of 1k + that I am not allowed to manage until account suspension resolved. Ironically they
come from the 'Safer Gambling Team'LaughLaugh

Why they suspending
Report devilsadvocate May 12, 2025 2:04 PM BST
Hi Freddie. 1st time was Betfair when they found out I had a health condition....took a few days to get resolved which with the
liabilities that I coulden t access didnt help the health condition! This time its Matchb**k and after three hours awaiting a call I still have
no idea why it has been suspended.

@ freddywilliams
Good question about where did i post about health issues .... I would be very careful what I post on here!!

Unfortunately I was not so careful in a twitter interaction with BF C/S. I was getting very frustrated with their lack of understanding
of an issue and said something like 'I have a Cancer condition that I can deal with, but dealing with you guys is a lot harder' !!

Wasn't very clever reallyScared and they suspended my account straight away. No real issue with that except not being allowed to manage a ! £1500 liability. No one I spoke to over the next few days had a clue until someone called me with the usual ...how do you feel about your gambling ? .. Are you happy with your deposits? etc etc  (Lifetime balance last time I looked  @ + £50k)

why on earth would they suspend account for a known health condition ?

surely none of their business

Diamante on livechat is usually very good.

@ clouded leopard

Think they were concerned about health condition/medication affecting my ability to bet. Responsible operator and all that....

have you checked your spam folder for matchbook cust serv contacting you about kyc, id etc?
Report devilsadvocate May 12, 2025 5:10 PM BST
@freddiewilliams

Matbook tell me @1.2k up lifetime. Use them for 10yrs or so. Plenty of KYC and ac checks which is why there current deposit limit (£300) is so annoying....

Withdrew 5k  4/5 months ago and only deposited £600 since, cant deposit again for a while.

I think lifetime loss is very subjective on an exchange. What happens if you lay off here? Bet on fixed odds. Lay off in running ? Arb? Hedge? How do they even know its an actual loss overall? But good luck trying to explain that to a safer gambling team member. They have zero understanding of any if these topics in my experience

The Anti Gambling Commission have but one purpose. To stop gambling and they are doing a good job so far
Report longbridge May 14, 2025 1:27 AM BST
Look at the flip side of the coin and imagine an article in the (generally gambling-hostile) press:

"Joe Bloggs said he had gambled away all his life savings, even after he had had a conversation with a customer service representative where he had mentioned his potentially terminal illness. A spokesman for BetWhatever said 'yes, we knew he was maybe dying but we thought perhaps punting on horses would take his mind off the fact'"

All they'd have to do is suspend deposits.  It's nonsense anyway.  Imagine being denied access to your bank account under similar logic.

If I was the OP I'd write to the Gambling Commission and copy in Betfair, The Racing Post and Greg Wood at The Guardian
Report CLYDEBANK29 May 14, 2025 10:47 AM BST
The problem is this.  The OP perhaps is worth £250 in commission over the year.  If the GC is handing out fines of £750k, it takes 3,000 such customers to cover the one fine.  Logic in individual cases and trust in employees to make sensible decisions goes out the window.

I was going to complain about Lloyds bank on trustpilot. Reading the stories the average customer has regards banks will blow your mind. One guy asked to withdraw 5k cash and they called the Police according to him. But review after review shows how delusional and crazy the world of AML is. Just pick on a few small fry and harass normal people. That seems to be modus operendi
