Has he even given an update since he told everybody on the eve of the season it wasn't fit enough for Guineas? I fear a few more people are going to taken in given the Acomb form.
There were plenty of signs in the second half of last season that things were not good for The Lion In Winter. He also told everyone that Lake Victoria was struggling to be ready for the Guineas. As for O'brien going through a bad patch, absolutely not.

I can't remember anyone mopping up every Classic trial as O'Brien has done. You would think confidence should be sky high, but you will do well to find any quote at all about The Lion In Winter. I thought today's interview with Tabor was far more negative than optimistic.
If it does bomb then having got involved ante-post with this horse and Dreamy, the only way I could have got it more wrong would be to have rowed in with Lake Victoria as well. Take out those three and they have nearly all won.

There was caution from Mr Tabor about the fitness of Lion for The Dante. But, he alluded to Lion had trained on. Nevertheless, it's brave (possibly desperate) of AOB running Lion in The Dante 1st time out this season.
I think AOB will be present at York tomorrow. This will give assurance and possibly confidence to the backers of Lion.

The first problem was the missed races at the backend despite no serious issues actually reported then we had to wait until that dire bulletin at the start of the season about his fitness level. Why was he so unfit? He isn't a great big gross horse. If connections were honest I think they knew what to expect today, and it wasn't anything more than he produced. He has done the Guineas/Derby double, but for the bookmakers. The connections won't care too much because of the amount of ammunition. I would give him a very wide birth.

The Lion ran well considering he ran very fresh early on as it was his run of the season. He was looked after when he'd not win; he also stayed on at the business end.
The $64k question will be will he turn up at Epsom with Delacroix as an able substitute? If he does there will be money for him for sure. And, he'll improve from The Dante.
