Only mistake is that he didn't get after him 4/5 strides sooner. A lot of milers need winding up a bit before they hit full stride. Looks like he will get 10 but he doesn't need it. He's quick enough for a top level race over 8. As usual a lot of pocket talkers and hyperbole on here. He was gaining last half furlong. Wouldn't surprise anyone were he to win St James palace for example. Yes he made a minor mistake today but impossible to know had he even been pitch perfect he would've won. He's had a good season so far especially when all and sundry were baying for blood last year.

It was an enterprising ride by Shoemark but making all is much more straightforward then deciding when to make your run at Newmarket. Barzalona guilty of exactly the same mistake today of being too confident in his mount. I wonder what his instructions were?

Horse thrown because jock couldn't keep it straight. If you saw the head on no surprise at all it was thrown out. Punctured the balloon for a few.
Report asparagus May 11, 2025 4:37 PM BST
Wondersobright, that's irrelevant as it didn't affect the result. The point is the 2nd past the post was beat by a very tiny margin yet suffered significant interference. Has to be reversed. Soumillon maybe gets a small ban for the interference caused late but that interference obviously had no bearing on the result.
Report broady May 11, 2025 4:38 PM BST

They closed the book straight after the race. The result shows She's Perfect as the winner.
Report asparagus May 11, 2025 4:46 PM BST
Wondersobright, a horse is only disqualified in such circumstances if it improves its own position. She's Perfect caused interference which improved her position. Zarigana caused interference which didn't improve her position. Therefore She's Perfect is disqualified and Zarigana isn't. Very straightforward.

Report Herbie-53 May 11, 2025 5:16 PM BST
Someone earlier in the thread said straight after the race that it was a 'ridiculous objection' which I totally agreed with.

Then I was a bit concerned for the winner as the French stewards are notorious for ludicrous decisions...before the
'inevitable surprise' of a disqualification was announced - fcukin' ludicrous...and sure to be reversed on appeal.

Worse still...I backed it and I had a rare bet on my Hill's account as I'd signed in to watch the colts race earlier.
16/1 SP was quoted on ATR and on 365's website...even 18/1 in the RP but those skunks paid my E/W SP bet at 14/1.

It's just emphasised why I have only had a handful of bets with them since opening an account about 25 yrs ago - I won't
be using those shíts again...unless they're giving something away.

I will be interested to hear what others think about the head on. I rewound attheraces and have watched the crucial bit about a dozen times.Yes he drifts left twice but I'm not 100% sure there was actual contact between shoemark and moore at all.(need a better view from more to the right to be sure) On the second drift, Moore hits his horse on the right flank causing his horse to move left and give a clear bump to Barzalona. Also it looks to me like quick thinking from Barzalona. He "drops" his stick when in his left hand and then uses his right hand to slap the horses neck all for effect for the stewards thinking he's not going to get up (maybe?). Of course he could have just dropped it by mistake.

Hope Fellowes on advice appeals and wins.

77th place based on wins and 5th place on pm, quite a contrast.

Very early days tbf with Murphy top with 12 winners.
