LOL, I was waiting too.

Absolutely cruising he seemed to cause the horse to drift by putting pressure on the wrong side?

He realised too late.

Should have won handy i think.

That was shocking to be honest, obviously he has a right to ride his own horse but why buy a decent horse and basically ruin its chance of winning a festival  race by not booking a decent jockey.

Came there with a wet sail and then fell apart. He has form. Did it in another bumper recently on one of his own.

because he's living his dream and he probably doesn't give a flying fk about people gambling on him whilst he's doing it

if Sean Bowen had been on that you're getting 5/2, you got 9/2 bcos it was being ridden by a man who is not a jockey

When he has the rod up his back removed he will be unstoppable.

He puts a fortune into the game.
Surely nobody expects a professional standard  ride?

We don`t expect a pro ride but I don`t understand why he doesn`t put a decent jockey on his horse in a race of this nature, it`s not a 3 grand race at fontwell is it !

It is his passion and is fully entitled to ride them.
It is your choice to back or lay

I agree with irons.

.... mind you, it might be my fading eyesight, but the jockey looked bigger than the horse to me when watching that finish.

Just shows how unprofessional the sport is, any one can ride in a race basically

The amateur race at Chelmsford was absolutely criminal, they looked like they were struggling to stay on.

It's a shame we are forced to bet on the races he rides in. If only there were multiple meetings on every day with multiple races at these meetings.

He is usually a better than what he showed there, brain fade. And obviously could have done with a rail on the stands side. No point in complaining about it, that's why nobody is.

Ruby said he looked big in the paddock

I`m not saying anyone if forced to have a bet but I just don`t understand why he wouldn`t want to give his horse the best chance of winning a big pot, he`s obviously a bit deluded !

some **** been posted here, your not getting anything regards price of the horse when Maxwell is riding against fellow amateurs in fact the price might be tighter as some think his experience against top jocks counts for something against some amateurs

he's paying the bills, if they don't like it i'd imagine plenty of yards would beg him to gove them a horse, not like they don't know when they take them in

Anyone who bets anything he rides should give up betting imo

We all know he's useless

Any other sports where an owner can get to have a go at the top level
By:
hulk23
When: 01 May 25 19:45
you're getting bigger odds because he is riding the horse.

if i was riding it you'd be getting 100/1.  if you're still daft enough to get involved and then say Hulk was pretty weak in the finish there, then so be it.  i'm not a jockey, neither is Maxwell.

he buys nice horses.

some of them just happen to be good enough to win with him on their backs pretending to be a jockey.
By:

When: 01 May 25 19:49
The trouble is,two bobbers on here want to tell the owner what to do with his horses
By:

When: 01 May 25 19:52
the bottom line is if David wins on a horse, 99.3% of jockeys currently riding in the UK and Ireland would also win on it.

that went up a bit when Ann Stokell retired.

mark of a decent jock is people say nobody else would've won on that.  they used to stand in the bookies and say it about Piggott.  Then McCoy.  Now Bowen.

He's fully entitled to ride his own horses and we all know the risks when backing him
I've actually supported him in the past, and think he is great for the sport

However, I started the thread because I couldn't believe how the horse drifted across the course like that, haven't seen that often, and also, with trading so low that there wasn't multiple threads about it

Well i'm an armchair jockey and just trying to help DM who i quite like as a person.

If he didn't do the flappy thing with his right hand/arm,the horse won't have gone left as it was a wtf moment for the horse.
He should have done the flappy thing with his left hand/arm and the horse would have gone right, been clear of the winner, went to rail and won race.
